Western Province And Dolphins Dominate

The Hollywoodbets Pro Series delivered another thrilling weekend of cricket action, with teams battling it out across the Pro50 and Pro20 formats. Western Province and the Hollywoodbets Dolphins emerged victorious in both formats, asserting their dominance in the early stages of the competition.

Western Province Secure Double Victory Over Knights

At the WSB Newlands in Cape Town, Western Province took on the Knights in a fiercely contested Pro50 match on Saturday. After being sent in to bat, Province posted a total of 210, with standout performances from Babette de Leede, who top-scored with 69 runs, Yandiswa Mangele’s handy 40, and Caitlyn Wyngaard’s 29.

The Knights’ bowling attack put up a fight, with Elandri Janse van Rensburg and Lucian Swarts claiming two wickets each. However, their batting lineup struggled in response, collapsing for 146. Nosipho Vezi led the charge for Province with impressive figures of 3/25, supported by Jemma Botha, Faye Tunnicliffe, and Leah Jones, who picked up two wickets each to seal a comfortable 64-run victory.

Western Province continued their winning momentum on Sunday in the Pro20 format. Setting a competitive target of 150/6, Lara Goodall anchored the innings with a crucial 48, while Kelsey Adams provided support. In the Knights’ reply, wickets fell regularly, with Jemma Botha once again starring with the ball, taking 3/18 to restrict the visitors to 117/6, clinching a 33-run win.

Dolphins Dominate Badgers in Oudtshoorn

Over in Oudtshoorn, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins faced off against the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers at the Recreation Ground. In the Pro50 clash on Saturday, Dolphins opted to bowl first, and their decision paid off, as they restricted the Badgers to 157 all out. Micaela Andrews was the standout performer for the hosts, fighting back with an unbeaten 50, while Asakhe Nyovane contributed a solid 47.

Nondumiso Shangase led the Dolphins’ bowling effort with 3/20, supported by Nobulumko Baneti’s 2/26. Despite a valiant effort from Nicolien Janse van Rensburg, who took 5/28, the Dolphins chased down the target comfortably, reaching 161/7 in just under 35 overs. Alexandra Candler’s 43, along with contributions from Asamkele Kawu and Zintle Mali, helped guide the visitors to a three-wicket win.

The Dolphins continued their impressive form on Sunday, securing a convincing 53-run victory in the Pro20 match. Batting first, they posted a formidable 148/3, with Candler leading the way with an unbeaten 55, supported by Nondumiso Shangase’s 48 and Nobuhle Busane’s quickfire 37. The Badgers struggled to keep up in their chase, finishing on 95/7, with Jane Nell’s 38 being the only significant contribution.
