Porsche is expanding its all-electric Taycan lineup with the introduction of the new Taycan GTS, set to make its global debut at the Icons of Porsche festival in Dubai on November 23-24, 2024. The unveiling will offer Porsche fans and enthusiasts a first look at the sporty new variant, which promises to elevate the Taycan’s reputation as a high-performance electric sports car.
A Broadened Taycan Lineup to Cater to Every Driver
Porsche’s Taycan lineup has never been more versatile, with a wide selection of models to meet diverse needs. From all-wheel and rear-wheel drive options to multiple power levels ranging from 300 to a staggering 760 kW, the Taycan family now offers something for everyone. Two new models, the Taycan 4 sports sedan and the updated Taycan GTS, have just joined the roster, rounding out the lineup. Both are now available for order, with delivery to dealerships expected in 2025. Alongside these new models, Porsche has introduced fresh exterior colors like Slate Grey Neo and Pale Blue Metallic in the Legends category, with Purple Sky Metallic joining the Dreams category.
“With the extremely wide-ranging Taycan lineup, we are meeting an array of customer desires and mobility needs. Our latest innovations underscore this exceptional breadth,” said Kevin Giek, Vice President Model Line at Porsche AG.
New Taycan GTS: A Sports Car Built to Thrill
The new Taycan GTS stands out as a true performance vehicle, honoring the legacy of the GTS name, which has been synonymous with sporty driving since the 1963 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS. Positioned between the Taycan 4S and the more aggressive Taycan Turbo, the Taycan GTS is a well-rounded sports car that delivers both power and range.
Equipped with up to 515 kW of overboost power when using Launch Control—75 kW more than its predecessor—the GTS now includes a push-to-pass function, providing a 70 kW boost for 10 seconds at the push of a button. This feature makes low-speed acceleration more thrilling by delivering maximum torque instantly, reminiscent of the Taycan Turbo GT. The GTS’s powerful performance is matched by its agility, rocketing from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and reaching 200 km/h in 10.4 seconds—significantly faster than its predecessor.
Range has also been significantly extended, with the GTS now boasting a maximum of 628 kilometers on a single charge in the WLTP cycle. A distinctive and more refined sound profile, along with unique design details like Black and Anthracite Grey exterior accents, set this model apart. A new Sport design front and rear apron, as well as high-gloss black mirror bases, underline its sporty aesthetics. Inside, the Taycan GTS features premium materials like Race-Tex and smooth black leather, along with Adaptive Sports Seats Plus, the GT multifunction steering wheel, and the Sport Chrono package with track mode.
Taycan 4: Efficient and Ready for Adventure
The Taycan 4 offers all the efficiency of the entry-level Taycan, now with the added stability of all-wheel drive. This new variant comes with either a standard Performance battery or the optional Performance Battery Plus, offering up to 320 kW of power. Depending on the chosen battery, the Taycan 4 has an impressive range of up to 643 kilometers, making it the leader among all-wheel drive Taycan models.
The Taycan 4 is equipped with electric motors on both the front and rear axles, providing excellent driving dynamics, stability, and acceleration. It goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, outperforming its rear-wheel-drive counterpart. Porsche has refined the all-wheel-drive strategy to optimize efficiency: the front motor disengages when not needed, switching back on in milliseconds for quick acceleration or energy recovery.
On the exterior, the Taycan 4 features 19-inch aero wheels, black brake calipers, and matrix LED headlights. Inside, luxury comes as standard, with eight-way adjustable Comfort seats, black partial leather trim, and the leather multifunction sports steering wheel. Additional standard features include Porsche Traction Management (PTM) and Adaptive Air Suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), ensuring a comfortable and dynamic driving experience.
Next-Gen Performance and Efficiency Across the Range
Porsche’s enhancements to the Taycan lineup don’t stop at the two new models. All versions benefit from a suite of technological and efficiency improvements, including a more powerful rear-axle motor, advanced powertrain software, better thermal management, and more efficient recuperation. At high-speed 800-volt DC charging stations, the Taycan can now charge at up to 320 kW, cutting down charging times significantly. The new models also come with an upgraded Porsche Driver Experience, offering more features as standard.
