Brevis Ton Anchor Titans’ Innings In Western Province Clash

Dewald Brevis provided an anchoring performance for the Momentum Multiply Titans in the much-anticipated encounter against Western Province at SuperSport Park.

Titans’ lineup had collapsed to 40/5 in the first 10 overs, but a brave Brevis innings powered the hosts to a respectable target of 218.

Brevis continued to be a run-scoring machine, powering to 116 off 118 despite the fall of wickets around him. He found a partner in Donovan Ferreira (44) as the pair conjured up 62 runs for the 6th wicket and the collapse continued to see Titans end the innings on 217/10 in 41.3 overs.

Mihlali Mpongwana (3/47), was supported by Beuran Hendricks (2/18), Nandre Burger (2/52) and Dane Paterson ( 2/46 ), who all claimed two wickets each.

With a final home game riding on the Western Province side, the visitors secured a narrow two-wicket win against their hosts.

An all-round batting effort including a half century from skipper, Kyle Verreynne (56), backed by Tony De Zorzi (40), George Linde (37), and Valentine Kitime (25) played a crucial role in the successful chase.

Mathew Boast was the chief destroyer for Titans, returning three wickets, two scalps from Aaron Phangiso and everyone chipped in the bid to restrict the visitors, who ended on 221/8 in 31 overs.

In Potchefstroom, Mitchell van Buuren’s van Buuren unbeaten 87* off 66 followed half centuries from openers, Joshua Richards (51) and Ryan Rickelton (52) to give DP World Lions the edge against NWU Dragons.

Their batting efforts were also supported by Zubayr Hamza (49), and Evan Jones (28) as Lions ended the innings on 304/7.

The Dragons’ response was flawed, with Lions taking wickets at regular intervals to restrict the hosts to 229/10.

Raynard Van Tonder top-scored with 57 runs, followed by 39 runs from Ruan de Swardt and 32 runs Wihan Lubbe helped in the target chase.

Bjorn Fortuin (3/27) and Wiaan Mulder (3/29) led the attack that restricted Dragons to 229 all out and Lions secured a 75-run win at the JB Marks Oval.
