the Rip Curl GromSearch #2, the second contest in a 5-part series, will take place in Victoria Bay over the weekend of 10-12 March. The high-performance right-hand point-break of Victoria Bay is a popular surfing venue in South Africa and always comes to the party by delivering highly contestable surfing conditions for surf events held there. The Rip Curl GromSearch 2022 held at Victoria Bay last year had excellent waves throughout, and March is a good time of the year for waves to arrive.
The first series competition of the year – the Rip Curl GromSearch #1, held at Long Beach in Kommetjie, had excellent waves throughout. A clean four to five-foot swell greeted the competitors along with offshore winds, getting the 2023 series off to a great start. Expectations are high for great conditions at Vic Bay for the second event.
For this tournament, Rip Curl is pleased to announce that George Municipality and George Tourism have partnered with the event and will present a live stream of the contest. For all the surf fans, family members and parents of athletes or even anyone interested in Junior Surfing in South Africa, this will enable them to watch the surfing live on Saturday and Sunday. Rip Curl will share the live stream link on further media communications before the link initiates.
The contest is also running Liveheats, and the event schedule is already on the Liveheats link.
The Rip Curl GromSearch contests are all Premier SAST events, with 1,000 points going to the winners and prizemoney per all Premier events.
