The first chapter of the Tour of Homewood which took place at Fancourt Estate in early spring 2015, was such a resounding success that it is to be continued this year between 26-28 August 2016.  Initiated by Dryland Event Management, Fancourt will remain the host of the mountain bike tour, offering riders not only the experience of cycling this region famed for the rugged Outeniqua Mountains, but also allowing participants the indulgence of the extreme hospitality in the surrounds of Fancourt Estate during the 3 day stage event.

To further enhance the experience, Fancourt Hotel is offering rider-only packages targeting teams, families and executives.  With attractive special rates, starting at R995.00 per person sharing per night, inclusive of breakfast, and a “stay for four, pay for three” offer, those taking part in this exclusive event can truly soak up the luxury experience whilst enjoying their sport.  Entries are by invitation only, further heralding the luxury, exclusive event.

“With the profile of golfers and mountain bikers being so similar, we decided to introduce the two worlds to each other,” states Lloyd Martindale, General Manager Golf at Fancourt.  “Following the success of the inaugural event with the very enthusiastic feedback from last year’s participants, we are pleased to be teaming up once again with Dryland Event Management.  With 80 participants previously, this year we foresee there being a considerable increase.  However a reminder that it is on a first-come basis and if last year’s event was anything to measure by, 2016 will be even better in terms of organisation, support and the overall exceptionally high standard of this annual ride,” continued Lloyd enthusiastically.

The Tour of Homewood, named after the original farm on which Fancourt Estate is founded, takes participants on a 3-day route through the estate and surrounding mountains, with a brief visit to the Klein Karoo.  Departing and returning from Fancourt each day, riders can use time off the bike to enjoy other activities for which Fancourt is renowned.  These include the Roman-inspired bath and the newly renovated world-class spa, along with a choice of restaurants, each with the reputation of using the freshest ingredients, not forgetting of course a round of golf.  Most recent is also the introduction of an Eco Rider, the unique two-wheeler machines which appeal to any age.
