The 2017 Motocross of African Nations (MXOAN) event, held this past weekend ended with a big bang on Sunday the 27th of August as eight African countries competed to take the championship trophy home.  The President of Bostwana, His Excellency Mr. Ian Khama also attended, in support of the event.

The FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Championship is one of the few motorcycle events recognised as a “Team” event, where the points of the official riders are tallied to determine who the winning African Nation will be for that particular year.

The local organising committee, which was led by John Carr-Hartley, staged a flawless event on Saturday and Sunday in Botswana.  It was arguably one of the best organised events held to date and they managed to overcome a number of challenges one of which was turning a piece of bushveld into a race ready Motocross Track in just 5 months.

The two-day Continental Championship attracted a record number of competitors from various African countries but team South Africa managed to win the team event for the fourth time.

The Countries that competed are as follow:

  • Botswana
  • Kenya
  • Namibia
  • South Africa
  • Swaziland
  • Uganda
  • Zambia
  • Zimbabwe

Congratulation go to  all the competing teams who put up a great fight.
