Super Rugby Predictions Round 8

Crusaders vs Jaguares

Ruan: Crusaders by 12

Both sides are on a 5 match streak, though the Jaguares are on a losing one, the Crusaders have won everything since round 2. The Crusaders backline is starting to find form and should celebrate Ryan Crotty’s 100th cap with a comfortable win against the errant Argentinians.

Marcel: Crusaders by 18

The Crusaders just ooze class and while the Argentinians are putting in some brave efforts week after week they are yet to find their feet in Super Rugby.

Rebels vs Hurricanes

Ruan: Hurricanes by 2

While the Rebels beat the favoured Tahs in their last match, the Canes are another New Zealand side that keeps getting better as the tournament progresses, and should score a vital away win.

Marcel: Hurricanes by 6

Creative plays, exciting running rugby, slick handling are just a few ways to describe the Hurricanes. More of the same should seem them return to Wellington with all the points from this match.

Cheetahs vs Sunwolves

Ruan: Cheetahs by 8

The nature of the competition is starting to take its toll on the Japanese side, and the Cheetahs should have an easy time against the only side they have beaten so far this season.

Marcel: Cheetahs by 6

I’ve yet to see something exciting from the Cheetahs this season but the poor Sunwolves are finding their baptism in Super Rugby a little hot and this week should be no different.

Blues vs Sharks

Ruan: Blues by 9

The Sharks have been getting progressively worse since they beat the Stormers, and even the inconsistent Blues would back themselves to win a team starting off a New Zealand tour.

Marcel: Sharks by 6

Can the Sharks bounce back after last week’s poor performance in Durban? Can they do it in New Zealand? Auckland is a tough place to visit and in it’s time to ramp up the performance and bring back the bacon.

Waratahs vs Brumbies

Ruan: Brumbies by 6

Both the favoured Australian sides have suffered some disappointing losses in recent weeks, but the Brumbies should come out on top in what is expected to be an edgy encounter.

Marcel: Brumbies by 6

This is a tough match to call with both franchises capable of winning on the day. The Brumbies just have a little something extra about them this season.

Bulls vs Reds

Ruan: Bulls by 10

Despite recording their first win of the season against the Highlanders last week, travel and an ever improving, athletic Bulls side should blitz the Reds.

Marcel: Bulls by 6

If the Bulls can keep the play tight I think they might stretch the margin, if the game becomes loose they might struggle to stay on the right side of the score.

Lions vs Stormers

Ruan: Stormers by 3

The Stormers have started to settle as a unit since their loss against the Sharks. They have a rookie at flyhalf but their structured approach should see them edge a tense encounter against the Lions.

Marcel: Lions by 14

Kurt Coleman had knee surgery a week ago and the Lions had shark for lunch. I can’t really see anyone taking points from Ellis Park the way the Lions are playing at the moment.
