Run Ride Dive Home

Round 7 kicks off tomorrow morning 9.35 our time and we thought we’d try help you with your superbru picks. to this end we have invited Ruan, one of the more successful pickers in our club and just for fun, I’ll throw my ideas into the mix. Football is more my game but I watch rugby, I can talk rubbish with the best so what the hell let’s throw my name away. Ruan is a Stormers fan so hopefully he knows about the injury to Kurt Coleman.

Chiefs vs Blues : Result 29 – 23

Ruan: The log leaders should have it easy against the inconsistent Blues, especially with points machine Damian McKenzie at fullback. Chiefs by 9

Marcel: I’ve backed the Blues a few times this season only for them to disappoint. Chiefs are good value for a win this week though. Chiefs by 10

Force vs Crusaders : Result 19 – 20

Ruan: The Force put up a brave fight against the Highlanders in Dunedin, but the Crusaders have one of the better packs in the competition and have started to find form in recent weeks. Crusaders by 14

Marcel: Things just aren’t the same at the ‘Saders without McCaw. I’m backing them out of habit so rather go with what Ruan says. Crusaders by 15.

Stormers vs Sunwolves : Result 46 – 19

Ruan: The Sunwolves are last on the log, and even with their 3rd choice flyhalf the Stormers should see the off easily at home. Stormers by 17

Marcel: The Stormers will have too much for the Sunwolves at home, and the travelling won’t help them. Stormers by 8.

Hurricanes vs Jaguares : Result 40 – 22

Ruan: Still struggling with their ill-discipline, the Jaguares are likely to continue on their four match losing streak against an improving Hurricane side. Hurricanes by 4

Marcel: The Jaguares have come close a few times but the Hurricanes are a well equipped squad. I foresee a home win by 12 points.

Reds vs Highlanders : Result 28 – 27

Ruan: The Reds have become more competitive since parting with coach Richard Graham, but are still without a victory this season. The Highlanders have won their las five and are likely to win again on Saturday. Highlanders by 9

Marcel: I used to enjoy the Queenslanders when Quade was still running the show but without him they lack imagination and I can’t see a win against a quality Highlanders outfit. Highlanders by 17.

Sharks vs Lions  : Result 9 – 24

Ruan: Hardest call to make this weekend, but the Lions should edge it against a Sharks side that has been inconsistent on attack, and has faltered a bit in the past few weeks. Lions by 3

Marcel: When in doubt, back the home team? Lions let me down last week in the high scoring home match against the Crusaders. Sharks by 4.

Kings vs Bulls : Result 6 – 38

Ruan: Despite winning their first match last weekend, the Kings are likely to run out of energy in the second half, despite the Bulls not being overly convincing in their last few matches. Bulls by 11

Marcel: The Kings won last weekend against the Sunwolves by 5. I’ll even say they played quite well in spells but if they beat the Bulls I might have to toss out my Blue jumper in despair. Bulls by 18
