A Sandile Mbatha brace helps NWU to valuable away win against UFH

In what was set to be a game of settling old scores for the men from Alice, it sure did feel like dejavu as they were foiled in their backyard, losing 3-0 to NWU. With the game off to a flying start it was NWU that drew first blood, by punishing UFH with a converted penalty by Sandile Mbatha. With the wind behind their them, the men from Mafikeng ruled and controlled the match the entire half but with very little luck of finding the back of the net.

The men from Alice had chances few and far between; nothing bothering the NWU goal keeper, who was a spectator in the first 45 minutes. With the second half underway the men from Alice were looking to bounce back and give their home crowd something to cheer about, but things quickly went south, with two quick goals from Sandile Mbatha and Cameron Chweu extending the visitors’ lead to three goals.

UFH were looking for answers but nothing was coming to right. With NWU firing on all cylinders they had the game wrapped up and in control long before the final whistle.

UFH will be heading straight back to the drawing board in search of the winning formula, as they hunt for their maiden win in the 2017 Varsity Football campaign.
