National MX Champs
The July Gauteng National in Syringa saw us officially pass the halfway mark of the season with another first class event. It was a great event, and set the scene for an exciting back half of the season. We now chase down spring as we head to Pietermartizburg, KwaZulu-Natal for Round 5 of the 2016 Monster Energy TRP Distributors SA National MX Championship.
The season would not be complete without making a trip to KZN to the Thunder Valley MX track in Pietermaritzburg. Thunder Valley is one of the oldest and most esteemed MX venues in the country, and much work has been done on the track in preparation for what is bound to be a thrilling day’s riding.
The forecast conditions look awesome for the event, with Saturday 6th August set to be sunny and warm, with little wind around. It is going to be a great day on the track.
This is proving to be one of the most exciting seasons ever, as none of the championship winners are guaranteed due to the incredibly close racing we have seen so far. This desperate scramble for points ensures that we will be in store for mind-blowing bar-to bar-action at Thunder Valley. Is David Goosen going to find the form he enjoyed at Syringa, or will Fitzgerald climb back on the podium in MX1 and MX2?
The Championship is sanctioned by Motorsport South Africa (MSA) and brought to you by Motocross South Africa (MX SA) in conjunction with Monster Energy, TRP Distributors, Thor, Bridgestone, FMF, Gaerne, Motul, DC Shoes, Bell Helmets, Rockwell Watches, Racestar Graffix, Pac-Rite, 100%, Fly Racing, Winstel, MMT and Progression. The official vehicle partner is Ford Performance.
Practice starts at 8am and racing will kick off at around 10am. There is catering on site and this is guaranteed to be a great day out for the whole family. Entrance is R50 per adult and free for kids of 12 years and younger.
