This week we have our superbru pool leader Johannes aka Hansdas as our guest player. Hansdas is an architectural professional. He is self-confessed football romantic who fell in love with The Arsenal on a hot, sweaty night in Paris when their 10 men came within 14 minutes of winning European club football’s biggest prize. That might explain why Hansdas is killing us on superbru, he’s making up for the gunners lack of trophies in the last decade. So, Dirk and Marcel have their hands full this week with the current pool leader! You can follow Hansdas on twitter too!
Let’s get cracking.
Hansdas: Arsenal 3 – 1 Hull City WP
A fixture that carries some very happy memories for Gooners (See 2014 FA Cup final). But it can just as easily be a banana skin, thanks to the Tigers’ mini revival in form the past couple of rounds. I’m backing The Arsenal to come good and rediscover the scoring touch.
Dirk: Arsenal 2 – 1 Hull City WP
Arsenal have had a mixed bag of results lately, from the sublime to the kind of result where you’ll find my Gunners friends banging their heads against numerous walls. Even though Hull have been vastly improved, away at Arsenal will be extremely tough for them to win. I see Arsenal edging this game.
Marcel: Arsenal 1 – 1 Hull City
I’m throwing caution to the wind. I’m so far behind in the standings and every week the upsets come flying so I’m backing the underdogs to get a point against Arsenal. Besides, Watford and Chelsea showed everyone how to beat the gunners in successive matches.
Result: Arsenal 2 – 0 Hull City
Handball goal Sanchez; Penalty Sanchez
Hansdas: Manchester United 2 – 1 Watford WP
Watford fans have been a-buzz with excitement after their win at the Emirates recently, but I am afraid Jose and his Red Devils are going to spoil Harry the Hornet’s party at Old Trafford.
Dirk: Man United 1 – 1 Watford
Marcel won’t like this pick at all but remember last time United faced Watford when Watford were in a decent spate of form… They took the game to United and I think they can do that again here. I don’t think they’ll win but think they’ll steal a point away from Old Trafford.
Marcel: Manchester United 2 – 0 Watford WP + MP
Watford have won their last two outings by the odd goal in three which is a decent return to form for them as they needed to halt their slide down the table. United, by contrast couldn’t force a goal against Hull and then smashed Leicester. I feel Jose will want revenge for the 3 – 1 drubbing they took at vicarage Road earlier in the season.
Result: Manchester United 2 – 0 Watford
Hansdas: Middlesbrough 0 – 1 Everton
Koeman has been working his magic for the Toffees and players like Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley have benefited greatly from The Ronald’s coaching. Boro are defensively solid at the Riverside though, so Everton will be made to work hard for this one.
Dirk: Boro 1 – 1 Everton WP
Boro are a hard team to beat, but they’re struggling to score enough to win a lot of games. Everton have improved drastically of late, and could be putting pressure on the top 6 soon. I think they’ll mistep here and struggle against Boro away from home. Good draw for both sides.
Marcel: Middlesbrough 0 – 1 Everton
Everton concede too many goals to make a serious challenge for the top 4 but on their day, they can put half a dozen past you. I just can’t see them doing it week in and week out with the current squad. Difficult match for the toffees but a win.

Result: Boro 0 – 0 Everton
Hansdas: Stoke City 2 – 0 Crystal Palace WP
Visiting Brittania Stadium is not easy. Stoke pride themselves on being hard to beat at home, so I do not see Big Sam and his team coming away with anything other than some nasty bruises and nightmares of Orcs chanting Peter Crouch’s name.
Dirk: Stoke 2 – 1 Crystal Palace WP
Stoke at home, as they say, is the big test. When you lose 4-0 to Sunderland then it’s not the best fixture to have next! Stoke to beat Palace here. Palace need more than Big Sam’s personality to keep them up that’s for sure!
Marcel: Stoke City 1 – 0 Crystal Palace WP + MP
You know it’s a tough ask if Big Sam can’t change your fortunes. Perhaps someone will write a book and reveal what the real problem is at Palace. Stoke are quite similar to Palace in that they underachieving for the talent available but for now they have 10 more points and are seven places away from the drop-zone.
Result: Stoke 1 – 0 Crystal Palace

Hansdas: Sunderland 3 – 1 Southampton
Sunderland have finally realised that they are in the relegation battle and scoring points at home will be vital if they are to stay in the Premier League. The Saints are in a bit of trouble with only 1 win and 5 losses in the last 6 EPL games. I’m backing the Black Cats to claw their way to a win…
Dirk: Sunderland 1 – 2 Southampton WP
Sunderland were excellent against an extremely poor Palace side and got a massive 3 points for their relegation battle hopes. Southampton are a completely different challenge though and even though they lost 3-1 to West ham they showed a lot of promise and shoold build on that here. A good away win for the Saints.
Marcel: Sunderland 2 – 0 Southampton
Jermaine Defoe is on fire at the moment. He just seems to be getting better with age. Southampton have some real problems unless they can stop the flood of goals conceded. The week before Christmas they were 7th, but now sliding down the table rapidly. A real opportunity for Sunderland to get out of the relegation hot-spots.
Result: Sunderland 0 – 4 Southampton
Hansdas: West Ham 1 – 1 West Brom WP
Aaahh, yes. The “West Yawn” derby. Great. I can only see one result in this fixture: A draw.
Dirk: West Ham 0 – 1 West Brom
West Ham have been looking a lot better and almost back to the team of last season, but without Carrol who looks unlikely to play, they won’t be the same at all. I think this will give West Brom the advantage, especially as West Brom have shown they can find victory against sides in strong form.
Marcel: West Ham 0 – 1 West Brom
Hammer’s fans will tell you they better off without Payet and you’d be forgiven for wanting to believe them but the reality is they lost to City, United and flippen Leicester in the last six while only beating relegation candidates Boro, Palace and soon to be relegation bound, Southampton. WBA are far too organised for WHU.
Result: WHU 2 – 2 WBA
Hansdas: Liverpool 2 – 2 Tottenham
The type of game where I want an on-field brawl to break out, resulting in 7 red cards and both teams being docked 10 league points. Overall, I think both teams will cancel each other out in what will be a high scoring, and hhigh-intensity game of football at Anfield.
Dirk: Liverpool 2 – 1 Spurs WP
Liverpool did not have a good January at all, but against Chelsea they showed the form that made them look like title contenders. I think that Liverpool will give a big performance here – especially since they’re at home. Spurs have been good but it’s a game with two teams with similar styles, I think Liverpool could well have the edge here with Mane back in the side.
Marcel: Liverpool 0 – 1 Tottenham
The results of this match are proof of how far Spurs have progressed in the last two seasons. The last three matches have all been drawn while Liverpool managed to beat Spurs in the 5 preceding meetings. On each occasion, they scored at least three goals too! I think Liverpool are in desperate need of some time off just to refocus mentally and rest physically. Narrow Spurs win, possibly a penalty.
Result: Liverpool 2 – 0 Tottenham

Hansdas: Burnley 1 – 2 Chelsea
Who can stop the Chelsea juggernaut? The Blues are in rampant form and will have received a huge boost in confidence after beating Arsenal so convincingly. I think the title is theirs to lose. Burnley have been very impressive at home, but I fear no amount of shouting from Sean Dyche will help them this time round.
Dirk: Burnley 1 – 1 Chelsea WP + MP
This is a surprise prediction I know, but Burnley have been playing some controlled football lately, and surprising a lot of people. I think they’ll surprise Chelsea here, and nick a point from the fixture.
Marcel: Burnley 0 – Chelsea 2
I desperately want Burnley to get at least a point here but I can’t force myself to predict nonsense. Chelsea will wear them down and pick up the points as they continue their relentless march to the title.
Hansdas: Swansea 2 – 0 Leicester City WP + MP
Its safe to say that the Foxes’ fairytale is over. Both teams are level on points in 16th and 17th positions, so expect this to be a hard-fought battle. I’m backing the Swans to gracefully rise above the Foxes and take all 3 points.
Dirk: Swansea 2 – 1 Leicester WP
Leicester are in real trouble, and could well find themselves in the bottom three shortly. Swansea, on the other hand, are on the rise with Clement seemingly doing what is needed to guide them to safety. I’d rather be a Swansea player in this fixture, especially as the game is being played in Wales. 3 Points for the Swans.
Marcel: Swansea 1 – 0 Leicester City WP
The Foxes are in desperate need of a Barbados holiday. Just pack up and go away for a bit. Let the players eat cou cou and drink too much rum for a few days. Send Ranieri to Rome to ring his bell somewhere else for a bit and then come back and make a proper effort to avoid the drop. Whatever the situation, part ways at the end of the season without being the laughing stock of the football world.
Result: Swansea 2 – 0 Leicester
Hansdas: Bournemouth 1 – 3 Manchester City WP
I think Manchester City are over their bad patch and starting to find their feet again. Bournemouth like to play attacking football at the Vitality Stadium, but I fear that will be their undoing against the likes of De Bruyne, Sterling and Gabriel Jesus.
Dirk: Bournemouth 0 – 2 Man City WP + MP
City have found their flow and Bournemouth let in 6 against Everton. I don’t know if they’ll be as porous this week, but expect a strong City away win here.
Marcel: Bournemouth 0 – 4 Manchester City WP
Dirk will be crowing about how Jesus saved City against Swansea for an age. I’ll just mute his WhatsApp for the next month or so! Anyway, it’s practically a tradition for City to score 4 against the cherries. If Aguero plays, the two strikers could be trying to outdo each other.
Result: Bournemouth 0 – 2 Manchester City
