Dubbed the World Cup of Tennis, the Davis Cup is contested between the world’s best men’s national teams and the competition dates back to the early 1900’s. The South African team easily navigated their previous tie when they beat Estonia 4-1 in Irene keeping their hopes of promotion to the Euro/Africa Zone Group 1 alive.

The team will once again be spearheaded by rising star Lloyd Harris in the singles matches while Raven Klaasen will be the country’s doubles ace. Klaasen recently won his maiden ATP Masters title with American Rajeev Ram at Indian Wells giving the team a boost ahead of the tie.

South Africa and Slovenia have met each other on two previous occasions winning a tie apiece, and will face the winner between Norway and Denmark to play for promotion to the Euro/Africa Group 1.
