Is this a successful season for City?

Capital One Cup Champions, Semi-Finals for the first time in Champions League – and in position for Champions League football next season. We still have loads to play for though! It feels wonderfully positive being City right now though. The only blip on recent form was the draw with Newcastle, but there’s momentum shown in the excellent 4-0 win over Stoke! It brings confidence into the massive test against Real Madrid at the Etihad!

Player’s returning from injury has been a massive boost for the side. In particular De Bruyne has made a massive impact apon his return to the team. He has no doubt been one of our most important players this season – when he plays we just look better and much more dynamic. Aguero has returned to form in a massive way, so much so that he’s pushing Kane and Vardy for the golden boot this season! It is yet another season where he is somehow not part of the PFA team of the year; which is madness honestly. Fernando and Navas have found form and have looked truly impressive lately. Nasri is back from a long layoff and he looks like he’s making up for lost time. He adds something different and his hunger shows! I do feel our wonderful and exciting young striker Kelechi should be used over Bony more, as he just looks more settled in the team and to our style. His two goals against Stoke showed this – exciting times for the future of the club!

We are now 3rd in the table, ahead of Arsenal on goal difference. Our focus firstly in the league is making sure of a top 4 finish and then at least 3rd from there. Champions League we have a wonderful opportunity to make our first final. Real Madrid are excellent going forward but look susceptible at the back. This is also us to an extent, but lately we’ve looked a lot more settled and with Kompany returning we should be a lot stronger defensively. It’s our opportunity, we must just take it!

Our under 18’s are in the final of the FA Youth Cup and the first leg was tied 1-1. The second leg is to come. There is a lot to be excited about with the Academy showing a lot of promise coming through. Which we showed in our FA Cup lose to Chelsea, some massively talented youngsters coming through our ranks. Pep has an excellent track record with young players, can’t wait to see who he spots in the academy!

In other news I was lucky enough to be part of Manchester City and Etihad’s Global City fan video that they filmed in Johannesburg. We filmed the piece I was interviewed in at the Nike Training Centre in Soweto. Which is quite an amazing centre, we were really wowed by the experience of spending the afternoon there! Thank you to both Manchester City and Etihad for letting me be part of such an awesome concept!
