A consistent swell and clean conditions set the stage for a full day of high-performance surfing, with both local standouts and visiting talent rising to the occasion in thrilling heats.

“These were probably some of the best conditions I’ve seen for a surf contest in many years,” said Event Organiser Barry Lewin. “Scottburgh really showed off with incredible waves, reminding us why this is considered a world-class surf break.

“This event showcased not only the level of competition, but the strong sense of community that defines surfing on the KZN South Coast. From seasoned locals to the Surfers Not Street Children competitors, many of whom also impressed in the Schools Tag Team Surf Contest on Friday, the talent on display was exceptional.

“More importantly, this event reflects the deeper purpose behind the Ocean Festival, which is to create awareness around the need to protect our ocean and its inhabitants, while celebrating the incredible environment we’re privileged to surf in.”

Results for the Ocean Festival Surf Pro

Open Men’s Division:

1st Michael Venter

2nd Luc Le Pront

3rd Avuyile Ndamase

Masters Men’s Division:

1st Gavin Roberts

2nd Gary Van Wieringen

3rd Jono Venter

Masters Ladies Division:

1st Nicole Annells

2nd Heather Clark

3rd Rachelle Walker

4th Elmien Le Roux

U18 Boys Division:

1st Amkela Mgcina

2nd Khanyisani Mgu

3rd Sihle Shoba

U18 Girls Division:

1st Louise LePront

2nd Nina Dirkze Van Schalkwyk

U16 Boys Division:

1st Melokuhle Zotshana

2nd Callum Pearson

3rd Junior Ngcobo

4th Damien Van Heesch

U14 Boys Division:

1st Tom Pearson

2nd Joy Jonathan

3rd Siyabonga Khanyile

4th Chayt Daniels

U12 Boys Division:

1st Jono Pearson

2nd Grayson Pictor

3rd Cruz Roberts

4th Bryden Mitchell

U10 Boys and Girls Division:

1st Reeve Bryant

2nd Leah Harding

3rd Kira Mitchell

4th Peyton Dustan

Perfect surf and electric energy characterised this year’s Ocean Festival Surf Pro, held at Scottburgh Main Beach on Saturday, 2 May 2026, where top competitors Continue Reading

[10

post-5467","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-other-sports
["GET
