The 2026 South African Indoor Hockey IPT, powered by SPAR & Tops at SPAR, burst into life on Day One with emphatic victories, dramatic comebacks and early championship statements across both venues.<\/span><\/p>\n

The A Section is being hosted at University of KwaZulu-Natal Westville, while the B Section action takes place at Thomas More College.<\/span><\/p>\n

MEN \u2013 A SECTION<\/span><\/p>\n

Southern Gauteng Send Early Warning<\/span><\/p>\n

Defending champions Southern Gauteng wasted no time asserting themselves in Pool A, thrashing <\/span>Northerns<\/span> Daisies 14\u20131 in their opening fixture. Liam Hermanus delivered a remarkable eight-goal performance, supported by a brace from captain <\/span>Dalpiarro<\/span> Langford and further goals from JP <\/span>Britz<\/span>, Travis <\/span>Krumples<\/span>, Michael Horan and Marvin Simons.<\/span><\/p>\n

They followed that up with a 7\u20132 victory over WP Peninsula. After a tight first half, <\/span>Britz<\/span> struck a third-quarter hat-trick to take control of the contest.<\/span><\/p>\n

WP Peninsula had earlier secured what could prove a pivotal 2\u20131 win over <\/span>Northerns<\/span>Blues, Dean Carrick and <\/span>Corben<\/span> O\u2019Ryan<\/span> scoring either side of Michael Kendall\u2019s equaliser.<\/span><\/p>\n

Northerns<\/span> Blues responded strongly later in the day, defeating <\/span>Northerns<\/span> Daisies 9\u20131, with Jordan Calitz netting a hat-trick.<\/span><\/p>\n

Western Province Show Championship Character<\/span><\/p>\n

In Pool B, KZN Raiders delighted the home crowd with a 6\u20133 win over SG <\/span>Witsies<\/span>after racing into an early three-goal lead.<\/span><\/p>\n

Western Province, the 2024 champions, were equally impressive in their opening fixture, dispatching KZN <\/span>Mynahs<\/span> 8\u20131. Hans Neethling scored four goals, with Idrees Abdulla adding a brace.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the match of the day came later when Western Province staged a remarkable comeback against SG <\/span>Witsies<\/span>. Trailing 4\u20130 early on, WP clawed their way back through Brett Horn, Ryan Julius and Kyle Esau before Neethling completed the turnaround with the decisive goal in the final four minutes to seal a dramatic 5\u20134 victory.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the final men\u2019s A Section fixture of the day, KZN Raiders secured a hard-fought 3\u20132 victory over KZN <\/span>Mynahs<\/span> in an intense all-KZN encounter.<\/span><\/p>\n

A disciplined first half saw both sides locked at 0\u20130, with defensive structures dominating proceedings. The Raiders broke the deadlock in the third quarter as Daniel Freese, Dan den Bakker and Keegan <\/span>Hezlett<\/span> struck in quick succession to establish a commanding 3\u20130 lead.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Mynahs<\/span> refused to fade, with Praise <\/span>Mgenge<\/span> scoring twice to set up a tense finale. Despite late pressure, the Raiders held firm to claim the three points and round off a strong opening day in front of their home supporters.<\/span><\/p>\n

WOMEN \u2013 A SECTION<\/span><\/p>\n

Champions and Contenders Lay Down Markers<\/span><\/p>\n

In Pool A, defending champions Western Province secured a comfortable 5\u20131 win over WP Peninsula. National captain Jamie Southgate led from the front, while <\/span>Malikah<\/span> Hamza netted twice in a strong second-half display.<\/span><\/p>\n

KZN Raiders overcame an early scare against KZN Inland to win 6\u20131. After conceding in the opening minute, the hosts responded emphatically in the second half to take control of the match.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Pool B, Southern Gauteng began their quest for a first title since 2019 with a convincing 6\u20131 win over SG <\/span>Witsies<\/span>, Amber <\/span>Fairon<\/span> producing a second-half hat-trick.<\/span><\/p>\n

Northerns<\/span> Blues delivered the most dominant performance of the day, overpowering Mpumalanga 14\u20130 with multiple hat-tricks and braces in a ruthless display.<\/span><\/p>\n

MEN \u2013 B SECTION<\/span><\/p>\n

KZN Inland A recorded a comprehensive 12\u20130 victory over Mpumalanga B, with Luke Barnard and Alex Warren both scoring hat-tricks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mpumalanga A responded in style in their own fixture, beating KZN Inland B 9\u20131 as they target a swift return to the A Section.<\/span><\/p>\n

WOMEN \u2013 B SECTION<\/span><\/p>\n

Northerns<\/span> Daisies secured a solid 5\u20130 win over KZN Inland B to open their campaign.<\/span><\/p>\n

KZN <\/span>Mynahs<\/span> delivered one of the standout <\/span>scorelines<\/span> of the day, defeating Mpumalanga B 13\u20130 in a commanding performance featuring multiple four-goal hauls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking Ahead<\/span><\/p>\n

With several statement wins, standout individual performances and a dramatic comeback already shaping the narrative, Day One has set the tone for what promises to be a fiercely contested IPT.<\/span><\/p>\n
