Great weather, spring blossoms and scents motivated our riders to push through the approximately 50 kilometres dirt track of the infamous Welvanspas.
Riders left Welbedacht Wine Estate, Schalk Burger and Sons in Wellington to tough out climbs and single tracks and take the opportunity to close the GC gap as well as be crowned the Stellenbrau King of the Mountain.
Team Breedenet’s Robert Hobson & Charl-Pierre Esterhuyse strategically took back the lead from Stage 3 Winners, Charl Cronje and David Garrett, winning the Men’s Duo Category, Silverback’s Marthinus Kruger & Yolande de Villiers retained their lead in the mixed duo. CeresCycles ladies’ duo, Lehane Oosthuizen & Leorine de Wet and Linus van Oneselen & Chris Brand, the Golden Oldies team in Masters Duo are top of their log. Morné van Greunen road away with the day 3 Solo Champion of Champions win.

Who will be the ultimate Duo and Solo Champion of Champions?
Stage 5 will put both riders back on the road on a fast but challenging 31 kilometers of open road and after a short transition, Stage 6 will move them to the beautiful Rhebokskloof “superbowl” of cross-country and MTB trails. After 25 kilometers of exciting hilltops and descents, riders finish in front of spectators to complete the first Breedenet Cape Duo Challenge
