Head2Head with Rob Moore

Last week Head of City’s Jhb branch gave Dirk a run for his money in a 7-7 draw, while United fan Marcel, let the blue boys have a bit of limelight ahead of their Champions League Quarter-Final. This week there will be no favours for the Citizens.

FT: Norwich 0 – 3 Sunderland

Rob: 2 – 1

Sunderland are playing with a lot of passion and desire but don’t seem to have the cutting edge to win games. I have a feeling that Naismith is going to cause the Sunderland central defenders a lot of problems. Could possibly be a draw, but going to say Norwich will sneak the win.

Dirk: Norwich 2 – 1 Sunderland

Norwich have looked a lot more competitive over recent weeks and at home in a must win game against a team struggling to score they should do enough to secure a massive 3 points for the Canaries.

Marcel: Norwich 1 – 0 Sunderland

Sunderland have caused a few upsets in the run in over the years but this season they can console themselves knowing Newcastle are going down with them.

Bournemouth 1  – 2 Liverpool

Rob: 1 – 3

Liverpool could suffer from a post European hangover in this game. However, the quality and depth they have up front will be too much for Bournemouth. I think Bournemouth will test their opponents but Liverpool will be too strong.

Dirk: Bournemouth 1 – 2 Liverpool

Klopp’s strategies seem to be working for Liverpool and they will want to end the season strongly. The Cherries are basically safe and not have the urgency to do enough to get points off Liverpool.

Marcel: Bournemouth 1 – 2 Liverpool

Bournemouth are tricky at home but Liverpool should have enough to see them off. Without Henderson running around like a headless chicken in midfield they may even put on a good show. The Welsh Pirlo (Allan) might even play.

FT: Everton 1 – 1 Southampton

Rob: 1 – 2

Really enjoy watching Southampton play, Koeman is doing a great job there. Martinez is really struggling to get his team performing in recent weeks and although they are still in the FA Cup they haven’t been able to translate their cup form to the Premiership

Dirk: Everton 1 – 2 Southampton

Southampton find themselves still in European contention and will be looking to keep pressure on the teams above them. Everton have lost a lot of momentum and the Saints should be able to come away with 3 points here.

Marcel: Everton 0 – 1 Southampton

I am struggling to figure out how Martinez keeps his job. He loses more games than he wins and even with Lukaku near the top of the goal-scoring list Everton are stuck in 14th place.

FT: Man United 1 – 0 Villa

Rob: 3 – 0

No chance for Villa here, they seem like a team that knows they will be playing Championship football next season and the club has written off the rest of the season. United’s pace upfront will cause lots of problems to Villa’s defense.

Dirk: Man United 2 – 0 Villa

Villa are nowhere and even though LVG makes some strange positional calls, United will beat Villa with ease – especially at home! Untied fans will be hoping Young isn’t upfront again though…

Marcel: Manchester 2 – 0 Villa

I want to be super confident after the midweek win against West Ham but if LVG has taught us anything it’s that we can beat the top 6 anywhere and lose to the bottom three everywhere. Here’s hoping for the best.

FT: Newcastle 3 – 0 Swansea

Rob: 1 – 2

Swansea will be buoyed by their win over Chelsea last week and playing against a Newcastle team who is struggling should mean another 3 points for the Swans. I can see Newcastle battling hard, but will fall short at the final whistle.

Dirk: Newcastle 1 – 1 Swansea

Like Newcastles season this will be another game promising a lot ending in a draw with not much to write home about.

Marcel: Newcastle 0 – 1 Swansea

Swansea are next season’s relegation contenders and are in no danger this season although watching them play is enough to give you the urge to shove forks in your eyes. Newcastle are just dreadful and will lose again.

FT: West Brom 0 – 1 Watford

Rob: 1 – 1

Both teams play a physical game which should cancel each other out. If Ighalo gets the better of Evans at the back, the result could shift to a positive one for Watford.

Dirk: West Brom 1 – 1 Watford

Both sides safe and not much to play for, expect them to meet each other half way for a draw.

Marcel: WBA 1 – 1 Watford

I kind of like Watford these days. Plucky, hard working, honest rather than flashy and no frills football. The same things I might have said about WBA a few months ago but they’re as boring as Swansea now.

FT: Chelsea 0 – 3 Man City

Rob: 1 – 2

Great week for CITY in Europe as they progressed into the Champions League Semi Finals for the first time in their history. However, I am concerned they might have a post European slump. Pellegrini will want to keep the momentum going from now until the end of the season and I think CITY will just overcome a Chelsea team which is struggling to win games at the moment.

Dirk: Chelsea 1 – 2 Man City

City have beaten PSG who beat Chelsea, so City should have enough to see off Chelsea here. Who really only have pride left to play for, especially as their manager is being replaced at the end of the season.

Marcel: Chelsea 1 – 2 City

City win it because of the two they just have more certainty about them. A season ago with Hazard in form, Fabregas the assist master setting records and that dirty dog Costa banging the goals I would’ve backed Chelsea but no more.

Leicester 2 – 2 West Ham

Rob: 2 – 2

Will West Ham have the energy to spoil Leicester party on their way to the title. This will be a game worth watching as there will be so many great battles all over the park. I will be interested to see how Carrol plays against Huth and Morgan. Tough game to predict, so I will sit on the fence with an entertaining draw.

Dirk: Leicester 2 – 2 West Ham

Both teams in excellent form, I think the Hammers could well be the type of side that give the Foxes some serious problems. Draw here, but an extremely entertaining one!

Marcel: Leicester 2 – 1 West Ham

Can the Foxes keep winning with their one dimensional super fast counter-attacking style? Why not? All season people have been saying it can’t last and yet here we are.

Arsenal 1 – 1 Crystal Palace

Rob: 3 – 1

With no midweek commitments, Arsenal should be too good for a Palace team that seems to struggle away from home. If Arsenal get an early goal it could be a long afternoon for Palace as they will struggle to keep their opponents from scoring.

Dirk: Arsenal 2 – 0 Crystal Palace

Palace got a very important win last time out, but this Arsenal side need points to make them more secure of their top 4 finish and will be pushing at home to get a result here.

Marcel: Arsenal 1 – 0 Palace

Arsenal have to get points off the bottom clubs if they want to make sure they get that 4th place they always strive for every season. Deflected goal at the end of the first half in an otherwise dull derby match.

Stoke 0 – 4 Spurs

Rob: 1 – 2

Tough game for Spurs after last weekend’s thumping of United. Spurs’ quality should give them the 3 points but they are going to collectively play well as Stoke are no push overs and really enjoy giving “top” team a hard time. Sure Spurs are happy they are not playing this match on a cold, wet Wednesday night.

Dirk: Stoke 0 – 2 Spurs

Stoke’s season is petering out a bit and Spurs are looking better and better. Spurs win here, even though it’s a difficult away game. They’re showing a change in the way the mentality of Spurs usually looks.

Marcel: Stoke 0 – 1 Spurs

Spurs played well on the weekend but that wasn’t a cold and rainy night at the Britannia … Things are coming together nicely for Tottenham. Might even finish above City and Arsenal this time.
