Head2Head with Sias du Plessis

Run Ride Dive Home
Burnley's Turf Moor

Last week we had a humdinger with Rabbie with the head2head ending all square after Dirk gave up the early lead to finish third. This week we welcome a Geordie, Sias du Plessis. Sias needs no introduction other than to say .. your team isn’t in the premier league! We’re sure Sias will give us an entertaining run for our money with a bit of banter on twitter where you can follow him @siasduplessis By the way, Newcastle are tearing up the Championship and if you get the chance to watch them, on those nights where there is no Premier League, catch one of their games!

Sias: Burnley 0 – 3 Manchester City WP

Hold my coffee, I need to roll a dice quickly.

Dirk: Burnley 0 – 2 Man City WP

Burnley not the easy game it looked like it would be at the beginning of the season, but City should have enough about them to see off the challenge that going to Turf Moor poses.

Marcel: Burnley 0 – 1 MAN. CITY WP

I’m tempted to give Burnley a point here but it’s City and Burnley capitulated on Monday night, so even though City have a midweek game in Europe, they should have enough to see off Burnley, especially now that Yaya and Pep have kissed and made up.

RESULT: Burnley 1 – 2 Man City

Sporting bet odds: Burnley vs Man City 10.5 / 6 / 1.3

Sias: Hull 0 – 1 WBA

Hold my coffee, I need to roll a dice quickly.

Dirk: Hull City 1 – 2 West Brom

Before Monday’s game I’d have gone for a draw here but off that excellent Baggies performance I must back them to win at a very average looking Hull.

Marcel: Hull City 0 – 1 WEST BROM

I was pleasantly surprised by WBA on Monday night. An enthralling performance saw them score four, three in the first half and virtually saw off Burnley unchallenged. Hull will be a different proposition but WBA should see them off on current form.

Sporting bet odds: Hull City –  West Brom 3.1 / 3.15 / 2.55

RESULT: Hull 1 – 1 WBA

Sias: Leicester 1 – 1 Boro WP

Hold my coffee, I need to roll a dice quickly.

Dirk: Leicester 1 – 1 Boro WP

This is a difficult one to call really. Leicester have been excellent in Europe but very uninspiring in the league. Boro have shown a lot of fight and think they’ll show that again here. A draw but a good point away from home for Boro.

Marcel: LEICESTER CITY 1 – 0 Middlesbrough

Backing Leicester is tough in a European week. Boro are a tough nut when they keep their shape while the foxes blow hot and cold and cold (yes I did that on purpose).

Sporting bet odds: Leicester  –  Boro 1.9 / 3.6 / 4.33

RESULT: Leicester 2 – 2 Boro

Sias: Liverpool 7 – 0 Sunderland WP

Hold my coffee, I need to roll 2 die quickly. And I’m a Geordie.

Dirk: Liverpool 2 – 1 Sunderland WP

Sunderland has improved lately, but hardly enough to get points at Anfield. Win for Liverpool but as always they’ll let in a goal.

Marcel: LIVERPOOL 1 – 0 Sunderland WP

Maybe unlucky not to beat Southampton over the weekend but Sunderland are on a mini run with two wins in a row to defy me. I’ll back the opposition so they can rack up another one, hopefully.

Sporting bet odds: Liverpool  –  Sunderland 1.16 / 8/ 17

RESULT: Liverpool 2 – 0 Sunderand

Sias: Swansea 1 – 1 Crystal Palace

Hold my coffee, I need to roll a dice quickly.

Dirk: Swansea 1 – 0 Crystal Palace WP

Two teams in a strange form. Swansea look to be getting into better form, at home I think they’ll edge Palace here.

Marcel: SWANSEA 1 – 0 Crystal Palace WP

When two dogs go to war, who do you back? Palace are almost hopeless at the moment, a run of 5 straight defeats sees them slipping down the table fast. Swansea is trying to head the other way and have shown some promise, perhaps the result will come this week for the Swans.

Sporting bet odds: Swansea  –  Crystal Palace 2.6 / 3.3/ 2.9

RESULT: Swansea 5 – 4 Palace

Sias: Chelsea 2 – 1 Spurs WP + MP

Hold my coffee, I need to roll a dice quickly.

Dirk: Chelsea 0 – 0 Spurs

It just feels like one of those games. A game that promises a lot and delivers little. Draw for me.

The highlight of the weekend, this top of the table clash is most likely to end in a draw. Of the last 14 matches Spurs have won only two, Chelsea five and the other 7 times were draws.

Sporting bet odds: Chelsea  –  Spurs 1.75 / 3.8 / 4.8

RESULT: Chelsea 2 – 1 Spurs

Sias: Watford 1 – 1 Stoke

Hold my coffee, I need to roll a dice quickly.

Dirk: Watford 2 – 0 Stoke

Can Watford do it two games in a row? It feels like it, after a wake up they were excellent last week. I think they’ll carry that into this game.

Marcel: WATFORD 1 – 0 Stoke City

I like Watford. It’s great to see them win against last season’s champions and hopefully, they pick up another three points against Stoke who have gone off the boil yet again.

Sporting bet odds: Chelsea  –  Spurs 2.35 / 3.3 / 3.3

RESULT: Watford 0 – 1 Stoke

Sias: Arsenal 2 – 0 Bournemouth WP

Hold my coffee, I need to roll a dice quickly.

Dirk: Arsenal 1 – 0 Bournemouth WP

Cherries to take Arsenal close but Arsenal to find that goal and ease into the full 3 points.

Marcel: ARSENAL 2 – 0 Bournemouth WP

The gunners will want to return to winning ways after a poor showing at Old Trafford where they might consider themselves fortunate to have picked up a point. Bournemouth are improving but the pace of Arsenal should see them defending most of the game deep in their own half.

Sporting bet odds: Arsenal  –  Bournemouth 1.4 / 5 / 7.5

RESULT: Arsenal 3 – 1 Bournemouth

Sias: Man United 2 – 1 West Ham

Hold my coffee, I need to roll a dice quickly.

Dirk: Man United 1 – 1 West Ham WP+MP

West Ham were good against Spurs till right at the end, so who knows what kind of form they’ll bring into this game. They’re 17th but they haven’t looked like a relegation candidate this season. They could beat United but think it’ll be a good point for them away at Old Trafford.

Marcel: MAN. UNITED 1 – 0 West Ham

The one-man show comes to Old Trafford this week. Will West Ham be able to burgle a point? I don’t think so even though they pushed Spurs really hard. Just maybe, the European match, will be a nightmare come Sunday for United.

Sporting bet odds: Man United  –  West Ham 1.5 / 4.5 / 6.5

Sias: Southampton 2 – 1 Everton WP

Hold my coffee, I need to roll a dice quickly.

Dirk: Southampton 2 – 1 Everton WP

This is my pick of the weekend’s games. Koeman returns to the Saints, but his team is all over the place form wise. Saints have been strong especially defensively. I got a feeling a Charlie Austin goal will settle this one.

Marcel: Southampton 0 – 1 EVERTON

This is a tough match to call. Southampton should pick up a point, especially after seeing off Liverpool without conceding but Everton is unpredictable. I think Southampton should win therefore I will back Everton who usually let me down.

Sporting bet odds: Southampton  –  Everton 2.1 / 3.4 / 3.6

RESULT: Southampton 1 – 0 Everton
