Last week Marcel destroyed Dirk and Paul Merson, though the latter is ignoring our message on Twitter in which we informed him of his prediction misses. Can’t blame him can we? I mean, why would a pundit send a congratulatory message via a public medium to accept his thrashing?
This week we welcome Man City’s Jhb Fan club organiser, Rob Moore. Since Rob and Dirk are City fans it’s probably a good time to mention that Manchester is RED 🙂
Read more on the 10-4-4 defeat of Merse and Dirk in week 32.
Dirk is back and we’ll see if we can find another high profile person to add to our predictions as the weekend approaches. (Our picks are locked into the superbru platform if you want to check them. Just join the RunRideDive club and sign up for the EPL prediction game.)
Rob: West Ham 2 – 2 Arsenal
Another London derby for West Ham after last weeks draw. It is going to be another derby filled with passion and energy, should be a great game.
Dirk: West Ham 2 – 2 Arsenal
West Ham are strutting along nicely and pressurising a lot of teams for a top 4 spot. They have a challenge with Arsenal visiting, and I can see it being an entertaining draw in this London Derby.
Marcel: West Ham 0 – 1 Arsenal
I’ve been impressed with West Ham all season but we’re in the business end of the season now and I think they’re going to fall short of a top 4 place. I wouldn’t put a draw past them but I think Arsenal know it’s now or never to make sure they get top 4.
RESULT: West Ham 3 – 3 Arsenal
Rob: Aston Villa 1 – 2 Bournemouth
Villa desperately need a win, although I don’t think there is any way that they can stay up now. Bournemouth play a good game and if the put Villa under pressure early on they should win this one.
Dirk: Villa 1 – 2 Bournemouth
Villa are nowhere and Bournemouth are a couple of points short of securing survival. Expect a good result here for Bournemouth.
Marcel: Villa 0 – 1 Bournemouth
I feel for the Villa fans. Looks like the more things change the more they stay the same. More bad results ahead.
RESULT: Villa 1 – 2 Bournemouth
Rob: Crystal Palace 2 – 2 Norwich
Selhurst Park is always a tough place to go. The Palace fans are very passionate and vocal, which can be intimidating for visiting teams. Norwich are a well drilled team with every player understanding their role. Both teams are desperate for points so this could be a great battle.
Dirk: Palace 1 – 1 Norwich
Norwich have had a good few weeks and have poked their heads above relegation. Palace have been sliding down towards relegation. Expect a humdinger as they both looked for points but end up with 1 point a piece.
Marcel: Palace 1 – 1 Norwich
I was quite fond of watching Palace early in the season when they had the pace and determination to beat Liverpool and push some of the contenders for the full ninety but lately Palace are also just another London team and Norwich are almost the more exciting team of the two.
RESULT: Palace 1 – 0 Norwich
Rob: Southampton 2 – 0 Newcastle
Southampton have too much quality for a Newcastle team which Benitez is still trying to understand. Newcastle have some good players, however, they still struggle to play as a team.
Dirk: Southampton 2 – 1 Newcastle
The Saints were unlucky to go away from top side Leicester without any points, and they’ll feel confident beating a Newcastle that is short on ideas. Benitez has made them better but they won’t have enough here.
Marcel: Southampton 1 – 0 Newcastle
More suffering for the Geordies. Last week the fans were in tears in the stands but at least Newcastle scored a few before losing. Southampton at home are a different kettle of fish and should keep a clean sheet.
RESULT: Southampton 3 – 1 Newcastle
Rob: Swansea 1 – 3 Chelsea
Unbeaten in the league under Hiddink, I think Chelsea will be too good for a Swansea team over the 90mins. Swansea haven’t been able to emulate the style of play they achieved under Martinez, Rodgers and Laudrup. I think Guidolin is try to understand the players he has and how to use them effectively.
Dirk: Swansea 1 – 1 Chelsea
Even battle here, both in decent form and both have the habit of drawing games. Can see this happening again here.
Marcel: Swansea 0 – 2 Chelsea
The Swans are pretenders. Usually only play well at home but I just can’t see them taking points off the fine-tuned Stamford Bridge outfit. Places are up for grabs with the new manager announced. Performances need to be put in to keep your spot next season.
RESULT: Swansea 1 – 0 Chelsea
Rob: Watford 1 – 2 Everton
Two teams who are a bit out of sorts at the moment, they are playing great for moments in their recent matches. If Everton can get the ball into Lukaku as often as possible they should be able to beat Watford.
Dirk: Watford 0 – 1 Everton
Ever since survival was basically assured Watford have looked completely lack luster. Both teams will have eyes on the FA Cup but expect a win for the away side here, who have looked like they have more about them.
Marcel: Watford 1 – 2 Everton
I can’t see Everton losing this fixture but at the same time I can’t figure out why I said Norwich would score a goal. Anyway, toffees win, possible penalty for Watford goal.
RESULT: Watford 1 – 1 Everton
Rob: Man. City 3 – 1 West Brom
At the Etihad, scoring first is always so important. If the visitors score first they can sit deep and try and prevent the home team opening them up. I think City will make some changes to the starting line up from Wednesday night. Think City’s quality will enable them to defeat a resilient West Brom team.
Dirk: Man City 2 – 0 West Brom
City will be buoyed by their positive result against PSG away in Paris and will carry this feel good into this home game. West Brom are safe and don’t have much to play for. City win all day for me.
Marcel: City 2 – 0 WBA
City traditionally struggle the weekend after a European match but WBA haven’t really got enough quality to challenge City. City also need to pull up their bootstraps if they want to stay in the top 4, this will be one of the easier three points to collect.
RESULT: City 2 – 1 WBA
Rob: Sunderland 1 – 2 Leicester City:
Leicester seem to be sneaky the wins they need to take the title. Although Sunderland are fighting to stay up, I think Leicester are solid in their tactics and will be too good for Sunderland
Dirk: Sunderland 2 – 1 Leicester
I know this will be an unusual pick, but Sunderland at home and desperate for points. They’ve looked better and better lately and if not for Fosters heroics would have had all 3 points last weekend. They’ll be wanting to push on their bid for survival and I can see them upsetting the top side here.
Marcel: Sunderland 0 – 1 Leicester
It’s crunch time for both teams. Sunderland may have escaped relegation a few seasons in a row but eventually they will falter.
RESULT: Sunderland 0 – 2 Leicester
Rob: Liverpool 2 – 1 Stoke City
Good result in Europe for Liverpool and a tough match this weekend against Stoke. If this was at the Britannia Stadium the result would have been the opposite way around. If the Liverpool fans get behind their team, they should take all 3 points.
Dirk: Liverpool 2 – 0 Stoke
Stoke have lost a bit of their momentum and Liverpool seem to picking up some momentum. Can see Liverpool winning here and carry some form towards the end of their season.
Marcel: Liverpool 2 – 1 Stoke
Liverpool playing quite well recently despite hiccups at Southampton and not being able to keep Spurs out last weekend. Recent results include wins against City and Villa and Stoke seems to be running out of fire.
RESULT: Liverpool 4 – 1 Stoke
Rob: Tottenham 1 – 1 Man. United
Spurs are pushing to try and catch Leicester at the top of the league. To different styles of play will be on display here. Think they will cancel each other out. Although I predicted a draw, I have a feeling Spurs might sneak the win.
Dirk: Spurs 2 – 1 Man United
Spurs are the only team left that can truly challenge Leicester for the title, and this form and impotence should be seen in this fixture. Spurs win here for me.
Marcel: Spurs 0 – 0 Man United
The beginning of the end of the title challenge by Spurs. A poor draw at Liverpool another one this week and all ambition of challenging Leicester will be out the window. Spurs need wins to keep Arsenal away from second but not this week.
RESULT: Spurs 3 – 0 Manchester United
If we get a match like this it will be great.
Rob 7 – Dirk 7 – Marcel 5
I feel completely let down by LVG and his bizarre tactics of Martial on the left wing, Mata on the right wing marking Rose, Young leading the strike force and the selection of Rojo.
