We’re into round 14 of the Premier League and this week we welcome a familar radio voice to the #Head2Head challenge, Derek Alberts!
The firs thing Derek said when we asked him to play the soccer prediction game was: “Firstly, let me be the first to admit that my knowledge of football, particularly English football, is rubbish at best. So for those looking to making some cash based on my predictions, you may as well throw your money away now. That being said, even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes so here goes nothing.”
Oh Derek, how wrong you are. Winning isn’t everything, it is the only thing! We’re assigning Derek green because well excuses are excuses no matter how valid. You can throw more green comments Derek’s way on Twitter.

DEREK: Man City 1 – 2 Chelsea WP
I may not be a football follower, but given that all my friends supported teams back in the day, I figured it was only right that I joined in. For the simple fact that I thought Gianluca Vialli was cool, I chose Chelsea. I’ll do so again this time around. Go the Blues!
DIRK: Man City 2 – 1 Chelsea
Chelsea have been good lately, but we’re at home and we want to show that we’re in this title race. Win for us, I believe we can shut Costa down and put Luiz under some proper pressure. The Citizens rested a few players last time out, and this should help against a quality Chelsea side.
MARCEL: Man City 1 – 1 Chelsea
No European game for City this week so they should be better than usual but there is a League Cup match so who knows if Pep wants to win it all or focus on getting one. Chelsea is playing attractive football though, a goal for each and points shared.

RESULT: City 1 – 3 Chelsea
DEREK: Palace 0 – 0 Southampton
I reckon this will be a craptacular borefest. A goalless draw between two nonsense sides.
DIRK: Palace 0 – 1 Southampton
Saints will go marching on here. Austin to score, Palace to battle away in vein. How much longer can Pardew survive? I think this will be another nail in his coffin…
MARCEL: Palace 0 – 1 Southampton
Palace are in rapid decline. They scored some goals last week and still lost to Swansea. Southampton are much better than Swansea. Much more organised and with better quality on the field. Narrow win for Southampton.
RESULT: Palace 3 – 0 Southampton
— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) November 30, 2016
DEREK: Spurs 4 – 1 Swansea WP
Spurs will dominate this clash, with Harry Kane scoring a brace. Easy win for the Londoners.
DIRK: Spurs 2 – 1 Swansea WP
Spurs were excellent that first half against Chelsea, so they should alleviate their November slump with a home win against an ever improving Swansea side. Spurs are in danger of doing an Arsenal in November! Swansea could surprise if Llorente gets his scoring going, but I don’t think it will be enough here.
MARCEL: Spurs 1 – 0 Swansea WP
I’m a little frustrated with the Spurs. They have an abundance of quality in the team but after last season’s collapse I expected them to toughen up and push on. It seems they are stuttering along but dangerous. Should dominate the fixture but win by a narrow margin.
DEREK: Stoke 0 – 1 Burnley
Another mid-table mess. Burnley to win, but only just.
DIRK: Stoke 1 – 0 Burnley WP
Burnley are playing a lot better than I expected honestly! Stoke a bit inconsistent, but they’re strong at home. Definitely, have too much about them for Burnley. A goal between them I think.
MARCEL: Stoke 1 – 0 Burnley WP
This could go either way. Burnley don’t travel very well so I’m favouring a home win for Stoke but it could just as easily be a scoreless draw as a three-three. You just never know with Stoke.
RESULT Stoke 2 – 0 Burnley
DEREK: Sunderland 0 – 2 Leicester
Is Sunderland still managed by David Moyes? If so, then definitely the defending champs.
DIRK: Sunderland 0 – 2 Leicester
The Champions in a relegation 6 pointer here. Crazy to say but that’s where the Foxes find themselves! I think they’ll take the game by the scruff of its neck and get a good and much needed 3 points here.
MARCEL: Sunderland 2 – 1 Leicester WP + MP
I’m fed up with both these teams. Both have cost me tons of points in the superbru league with inconsistent performances. Just for shits n giggles, I hope the underdog wins!
DEREK: West Brom 1 – 1 Watford
No “W”s for either side in the battle of the “W”s. A big fat “D”. A draw
DIRK: West Brom 2 – 1 Watford WP
Watford can be wonderful to watch, but highly inconsistent. The Baggies have been improving week by week, and should really have won last weekend. I think they will win this one.
MARCEL: West Brom 0 – 1 Watford
Troy Deeney to score a goal in second half injury time? Well that’s my hope. West Brom played really well a week or two back with a resounding win but I feel it’s more the exception than the rule with them.
RESULT: WBA 3 – 1 Watford
DEREK: West Ham 2 – 2 Arsenal
Arsenal as always will start well, look good and threaten to rule, but the Hammers will come back to secure a draw.
DIRK: West Ham 2 – 1 Arsenal
A London derby. West Ham haven’t been able to get into the gears they were in last season but this could well be the catalyst they need. Going against the grain a bit here, but it feels like a Hammers win for me.
MARCEL: West Ham 0 – 2 Arsenal WP
Another game at their new home, another game where the home fans aren’t dominating the chants from the terraces and another game adding fuel to the fire that Dimitri Payet should rapidly look to move to a big club worthy of his insane ability.
RESULT: WHU 1 – 5 Arsenal
DEREK: Bournemouth 0 – 3 Liverpool
Breaking: Coutinho’s ankle.
Sorry, that’s bad, but even without a Brazillian, Liverpool will hammer the little seaside village by a landslide.
DIRK: Bournemouth 0 – 2 Liverpool
Crazy as it sounds Liverpool look like the real deal this season. Cherries been good in pieces this season but Liverpool will be too strong for them. Even with Coutinho missing they’ve get the 3 points here.
MARCEL: Bournemouth 1 – 2 Liverpool
Liverpool should win this by half a dozen but I don’t have the balls to risk a 6-0 prediction. Also, I secretly want Bournemouth to at least take a point but since I’m a sensible person I predict Liverpool sans Coutinho to dominate proceedings but Bournemouth to score on a counter and make it feel like a cup match.
DEREK: Everton 0 – 1 Man United
No self-respecting Chelsea fan can go against Jose Mourinho. United by 1.
DIRK: Everton 1 – 1 Man United WP + MP
It’s Man United, which can only mean another draw. Everton haven’t been strong enough lately to take all 3 points but this United defence hasn’t been nearly strong enough lately. Lukaku to sneak a goal in here. Jose show to carry on for now.
MARCEL: Everton 0 – 1 Man United
Everton are poor at the moment, with just one win in their last 8 outings. United have similar problems with two wins in the last eight but the statistics don’t lie. United are creating bucketloads of chances but converting only a few. At some point this has to change like the 4-0 against Feyenoord. United to edge the Toffees.
DEREK: Boro 2 – 0 Hull WP
I don’t know a thing about either team. Let’s go Boro, because they’re at home.
DIRK: Boro 2 – 0 Hull WP
Boro really have been impressing and are unlucky to have as many draws without as many wins as they deserve. They’ll get a much needed 3 points here against fellow strugglers Hull. Hull who really are a ship without enough men. I think they’re just trying to make sure there’s damage control till the January window where they can add to a very small squad.
MARCEL: Boro 2 – 2 Hull
Monday night’s game could very well be the decider in this round of Head2Head but it’s a tough game to call between two strugglers. Statistically, Hull is the weaker side but Boro don’t fill me with any confidence. Hopefully, a high-scoring draw to entertain the viewers.
