Head2Head is back and first up, we’ve invited our Superbru Super Rugby winner, Andre, to come and test his football score prediction knowledge in a one-off match against City’s Dirk and United’s Marcel. Andre wiped the floor with us in our Superbru club on the rugby scores so we’re hoping to extract a little revenge on the EPL predictions, although things haven’t gone anywhere near as well as they did in the previous season for our two club admins. Andre can be found on Twitter.

2015 and 2016 champions face off

Andre: Chelsea 2 vs Liecester 2

Both teams seems to have a leaky defence, while both teams also seems capable of scoring goals. I’m going with a draw

Dirk: Chelsea 2 – 1 Leicester – WP

Chelsea’s defence hasn’t been the best but the 3 at the back Conte played with last time out looked a lot of trouble and settled. If he does the same again, expect a strong and in-form Costa do enough for Chelsea to get the win at home. Leicester has looked good in Europe but in the EPL haven’t done enough. Another day of not enough from them.

Marcel: Chelsea 2 – 1 Leicester – WP

Leicester has all but capitulated. Their dynamic counter-attacking style nothing more than a distant memory. This is the Leicester we all expected to see last season, except Tuesday and Wednesday nights in Europe they getting the results I wouldn’t have expected.

RESULT: Chelsea 3 – 0 Leicester

Sporting Bet Odds: Chelsea v Leicester 1.60 / 4.00 / 5.50

Andre: Arsenal 3 vs Swansea 0 WP

Arsenal seems to be pulling themselves toward themselves last few games. Scoring lots of goals and not conceding any. Playing home to a poor, poor Swansea, who just fired their coach. Now coached by American Bob Bradley. Could be a high scoring game….for Arsenal

Dirk : Arsenal 2 – 0 Swansea WP

Arsenal has been excellent lately, and Swansea has looked uninspired. New blood in by Swansea, but don’t think that will be enough against a Gunners team with momentum.

Marcel: Arsenal 3 – 0 Swansea WP

A fit Arsenal is good enough to rip Swansea to shreds. Ozil and Sanchez create so many chances for the speedy Walcott and co. Throw in a few high balls and Giroud is the guy you want on the end of them. Swansea is going to be stuck in the battle to avoid relegation with teams of far better pedigree, like West Ham.

RESULT: Arsenal 3 – 2 Swansea

Andre: Bournemouth 2 – Hull 0 WP

Bournemouth is one of those teams that plays like a pile of steaming … when they play away but then play like Superheroes at home. Bournemouth has won their last 2 home games and kept 2 clean sheets at home Hull is another one of those teams that plays crap away. Plus, Bournemouth’s strikers are getting some form.

Dirk: Bournemouth 2 – 1 Hull City WP

The early season Hull form seems a distant memory now. Bournemouth, on the other hand, has grown as the season has gone, and should build on this at home.

Marcel: Bournemouth 2 – 1 Hull City WP

Hull and Bournemouth are separated by just one point after 7 games and yet it feels like Hull are going backwards. I’m going for a home win because Bournemouth has an edge about them many other clubs could do well to emulate.

RESULT: Bournemouth 6 – 1 Hull

Andre: Man City 3 vs Everton 2

Looks like the Premier League’s most in form player, Kevin De Bruyn will be back from injury, fit and ready to supplying Sergio Aguero with plenty of goals, doesnt really matter who they play (sorry Everton). Expect lots of goals from both teams but at the end of the day. Man City should triumph

Dirk: Man City 2 – 0 Everton

Pep and Koeman know each other very so expect this to be a cagey affair. Styles are similar and this should play into City’s hands more than Everton. City have enough quality to find the goals for an important home win. I’m also a Citizen so always back my side!

Marcel: Man City 1 – 0 Everton

Superbru Fantasy warned that Sterling and Aguerro aren’t 100% fit and might not play, based on this I’m going for a narrow win margin but wouldn’t be surprised if Everton snuck a point against the Citizens whose goalkeeper woes continue even after shipping Joe Hart to Italy.

RESULT: Man City 1 – 1 Everton

Sporting Bets Odd Manchester City v Everton 1.45 / 4.756.50

Andre: Stoke 1 vs Sunderland 2

Stoke is playing home so ill give them a goal but Jermain Defoe to do the business for Sunderland.

Dirk: Stoke 1 – 0 Sunderland WP

Both teams haven’t been in any decent form, but Stoke seems the more likely to be able to get themselves a win here.

Marcel: Stoke 1 – 1 Sunderland

Jermain Defoe to score after the break and Stoke to steal a point in the last 5 minutes? Sounds like a recent match at Old Trafford. The bottom two clubs desperately need a 3-pointer in this match but I can’t separate them. The loser will be under pressure for the rest of the season.

RESULT: Stoke 2 – 0 Sunderland

Sporting Bets Odds Stoke v Sunderland 2.05 / 3.50 / 3.80

Andre: West Brom 0 vs Tottenham Hotspurs 3

Spurs all round game is on FIRE. Defence is SOLID and they are scoring goals for fun. West Brom might have a goal in them via Chadli. Easy win for Spurs tho.

Dirk: West Brom 1 – 2 Spurs

Spurs the team on form right now, and I don’t think West Brom have enough about them to cause them too many hassles.

Marcel: West Brom 0 – 1 Spurs

Spurs just have too much quality for WBA. It will be a cagey, hard fought win but anything less than a win should be seen as a catastrophe for the Londoners, assuming none of their players come back from the international break injured.

RESULT: WBA 1 – 1 Spurs

Andre: Crystal Palace 2 – West Ham 1

WTF is going on at West Ham? They seem to falling apart. Defence is a shambles. It should be an upset for Crystal Palace to win this game but West Ham is so kak this season. I call Palace to win

Dirk: Crystal Palace 2 – 0 West Ham

There’s something not right with the Hammers right now, they look a good side but they can’t crack onto any kind of form. Palace, on the other hand, seem to be starting to gel as a side. I think that will be enough for them to get a good result at home.

Marcel: Crystal Palace 1 – 1 West Ham

The Hammers, the topic of many football chats in the past two seasons. Last season for their fantastic run and push for top 4 and this season for their equally newsworthy collapse and fight to get away from the bottom three. Perhaps we expected too much. Perhaps losing to the farmers from who-knows-where in the Europa qualifying match was a good indicator of things to come.

RESULT: Crystal Palace 0 – 1 WHU

Sporting Bet Odds: Crystal Palace v West Ham 2.15 / 3.50 / 3.50

Andre: Middlesbrough 1 vs Watford 2 WP

I like both these teams. But Watford has more guns. Watford to edge it

Dirk: Boro 1 – 1 Watford

Watford is a hard side to predict. Who knows which side you’ll get! Boro look like they’re settling into a decent EPL team, though. I do like them as a side. I think they’ll cancel each other out here with a draw.

Marcel: Boro 0 – 1 Watford WP+MP

Watford play in yellow, one nil. Boro signed that reject Negredo from some average club and deserve to languish near the bottom just for that error in judgement. At this early stage, Watford is two points clear of Boro, by Monday it will be five.

RESULT: Boro 0 – 1 Watford

Sporting Bet Odds Middlesbrough v Watford 2.25 / 3.30 / 3.40

Andre: Southampton 3 vs Burnley 0 WP

Burnley is one of those teams i referred to earlier who plays like crap away from home. If Austin/Tadic are in form. Southampton could go on a scoring spree.

Dirk: Southampton 2 – 0 Burnley WP

Saints have the momentum and I don’t believe Burnley have enough to survive and stay up this season. Easy 3 points for the Saints.

Marcel: Southampton 2 – 1 Burnley WP

It’s early days in the EPL but the writing is on the wall for Burnley. The battle to avoid relegation is on the horizon, they need to gather as many points before Christmas as possible but this won’t be one of the games that they get anything from. Southampton to lead by 2 and relax, Burnley to score a late consolation goal.

RESULT: Southampton 3 – 1 Burnley

Andre: Liverpool 3 Man United 3 WP

Now that Rooney has taken a seat, hopefully for good. The real Man United will now stand up, with the likes of young guns, Rashford/Martial taking over. But dont say that too loudly because Mr Klopp has an entire midfield of gunslingers, who seems to be taking turns banging in the goals. I see GOALS, lots & lots of GOALS

Dirk: Liverpool 2 – 1 Man United

Marcel won’t like this pick at all! Liverpool has been in a rich vain of form lately, and at home, with a slightly inconsistent United side, they should win. This is a massive fixture on the EPL calendar though and it could go either way. For me, it’s edging towards a big win for Liverpool.

Marcel: Liverpool 1 -1 Man United WP

Rooney benched by Mourinho, then benched by England, the world has finally found some sanity. And then some clown announced charges against Pravin, and I have to immediately retract my comments about sanity. A score draw for me. Top quality on both sides with ‘pool enjoying the early dominance and United squeezing them in the second half.

RESULT: Liverpool 0 – 0 Man Utd

Sporting Bet Odds Liverpool v Manchester United 2.10 / 3.503.60
