CSI BATTLES LAW & ORDER AT THE GARY PLAYER INVITATIONAL
Sun City will host a star-studded battle of the hit crime TV series when Anthony Anderson of Law & Order takes on CSI New York’s Carmine Giovinazzo in order to benefit underprivileged children in the Gary Player Invitational at the Lost City Golf Course from 16-17 November.
The duo will be joined by fellow celebrities Brian McFadden of Westlife, Ministry of Sound Radio host Johnathan “DJ Spoony” Joseph, and South Africa’s first couple of radio Unathi and Thomas Msengana.
Participating celebrities will team up with tournament host Gary Player and professional golfers Retief Goosen, Tony Johnstone and Cheyenne Woods as well as business leaders in Africa’s leading charity tournament. Funds raised from the four day event will benefit the Wildlands Conservation Trust in partnership with Qhubeka and Wings and Wishes as the chosen charity beneficiaries of 2013.
New Yorker Giovinazzo, who also starred in the Hollywood blockbusters For Love of the Game with Kevin Costner and Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down, is on the Board of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation’s Annual Golf Charity and has plenty of game, boasting a 6 handicap.
“I first played golf when a friend, who plays every weekend, finally convinced me to wake up at 6am and play Griffith Park in Los Angeles. It’s the only thing now, aside from work, that will get me up at dawn” Giovinazzo said. “Friends, the grass and the game keep me coming back.”
Asked to describe his on-course demeanour, Giovinazzo said: “It all depends on the match… I am always laughing whether it goes left or right, but if it’s a tournament I may get serious.”
Tickets are available at Computicket (R75 for adults, R50 for pensioners and R60 for under 18s). For more information on the event, visit www.garyplayerinvitational.com and follow @GPInvitational on Twitter.
