The Engen Xtreme Team head into the final round of the Sasol GTC Africa at Zwartkops Raceway on Saturday, 25 November on the cusp of championship glory.
With Engen Xtreme drivers Michael Stephen and Simon Moss lying first and third respectively on the overall standings, a good showing in Centurion will see the two teammates taking overall podium positions for the season.
“Getting teammates on the podium at one event is a challenge,” says Engen Xtreme Team Principal, Terry Moss. “Claiming two podiums for the same team for the overall championship is another achievement entirely.”
Championship leader Stephen enters the final round well positioned to claim a second consecutive Sasol GTC Africa title. With 100 points on offer over the two races on the day, and an 86-point lead over second-placed Gennaro Bonafede, solid driving should ensure Stephen makes history as the only competitor to win the championship title in the series in South Africa.
Moss currently lies third in the championship and a good showing at Zwartkops will see him take the final overall podium position for the year. An exceptional day at the office and the talented youngster may even challenge Bonafede for second-place overall.
“Michael and Simon have produced excellent performances on track and the team have worked hard behind the scenes to keep the race cars in top form,” adds Terry Moss.
“This combined effort has paid dividends throughout the season and going into the final round we are poised to reap the rewards of all of our hard work.”
In a series where all competitor’s vehicles are mechanically identical, and all are rear-wheel drive, the Engen Xtreme Team’s 2017 performance has been nothing short of remarkable.
In these conditions Stephen and Moss have shown consistent driving prowess to dominate the second season of the Sasol GTC Africa.
Fans heading for Zwartkops on 25 November are in for an action-packed day of racing as the drivers push their cars to the outer limits in search of the chequered flag.
