EPL Head2Head

Run Ride Dive Home

To start October, Dirk and Ruan go head2head in our “just for giggles” EPL picks.

DV: West Brom 0 – 1 Palace  (has his fixture back to front but picked the right winner)

Palace keeping form, West Brom needing more form. Palace win a few more going into December they could be a side to challenge like the Saints did last season. They’re a striker away from being a really dangerous side.

RM: Crystal Palace 2 vs 1 West Brom

Crystal Palace are on a decent run of form, while West Brom will be without striker Salomon Rondon. The Baggies have been inconsistent so far this season while Palace has only dropped home points against Arsenal and Man City so far.

RESULT: Crystal Palace 2 vs 0 West Brom

DV: Villa 1 – 2 Stoke

Stoke have been decent this year if not for too many draws. Villa have looked dreadfully average. Expect much needed points going back to the Britannia.

RM: Aston Villa 1 vs 2 Stoke

Aston Villa hasn’t won in the league since the first match of the season, while Stoke only secured their first win last week. Stoke have however been the more impressive side, with mounting pressure on Tim Sherwood not aiding Villa.

RESULT: Aston Villa 0 – 1 Stoke

DV: Bournemouth 2 – 2 Watford

The Cherries have form but too many important players injured, Watford finding form. Looks like they’ll cancel each other out, but it will be entertaining!

RM: Bournemouth 1 vs 1 Watford

Both promoted clubs has had a decent start to their campaign, and with both coming off a loss, a tight affair is expected to retain their distance from the bottom three.

RESULT: Bournemouth 1 vs 1 Watford

DV: City 3 – 0 Newcastle

I’m a Citizen so always a tad bias towards them but Newcastle look clueless this season. After a good win in Europe and important players coming back can’t see them doing anything but win at a canter.

RM: Manchester City 2 vs 0 Newcastle

After two consecutive league losses has seen them drop to second in the league, City will hope their midweek comeback win in Europe will give them the confidence boost needed to beat the struggling Newcastle.

RESULT: Manchester City 6 – 1 Newcastle Surprise here was the Newcastle goal.

DV: Sunderland 0 – 2 West Ham

The best away team in the EPL against well, the worst team in the EPL. Hammers to build on recent good results with another good win here.

RM: Sunderland 0 vs 2 West Ham

Sunderland are bottom of the league with the most goals conceded, while West Ham sits in third and has the most goals scored along with Leicester. The Hammers have been impressive on the road and should pile more misery on Sunderland.

RESULT: Sunderland 2 – 2 West Ham

DV: Norwich 1 – 2 Leicester

I keep expecting the good feeling with the Foxes to hit a hump but they keep fighting back. Great spirit from the side all season. Norwich just aren’t quite there yet, another feel good win for the Foxes.

RM: Norwich 3 vs 2 Leicester

Both Norwich and Leicester have started well in the season so far, with Norwich unbeaten at home. While Leicester have scored the most goals in the league tied with West Ham, they have also conceded the second most tied with Chelsea. Norwich should win a high scoring game and move into the top half of the table.

RESULT: Norwich 1 vs 2 Leicester

DV: Chelsea 2 – 2 Southampton

Both teams in a strange place, and not at their usual consistency. Defensively not where they should be. Draw but high scoring.

RM: Chelsea 3 vs 1 Southampton

After two hugely disappointing matches in the league and in Europe, Chelsea will look to bounce back against a Saints side that has started to find their goals scoring touch in the last few weeks. While form will favour Southampton, the pressure of getting their season back on track should motivate Chelsea to a home win.

RESULT: Chelsea 1 – 3 Southampton

DV: Everton 2 – 1 Liverpool

Will be in trouble with the wife with this prediction, but Everton look inspired right now. Martinez proving doubters (who included me) wrong with a strong stand for a top 4 challenge.

RM: Everton 3 vs 2 Liverpool

Everton are unbeaten in their last four league matches, and have risen to 5th in the table after a poor start. Liverpool, despite only being one point behind, have endured a frustrating season so far, and after a large group of first team players were held by Swiss side Sion midweek, Everton will feel they have the edge going into the Liverpool derby.

RESULT: Everton 1 – 1 Liverpool

DV: Arsenal 1 – 1 Man United

United could well win here, but I think Arsenal need a reaction and a strong draw will do for now for Wengers men.

RM: Arsenal 1 vs 3 Manchester United

Despite a good run in the league, their poor results in Europe together with their record against Manchester United will make this a tough match to come away with points. United has steadily improved each week and looks set to keep their spot on top of the league.

RESULT: Arsenal 3 – 0 Man United

DV: Swansea 1 – 2 Spurs

Swansea haven’t built on their positive start, strikers not scoring always a big problem for any side. Spurs look to have turned the tide and expect to see a rejuvenated Lamela and Kane make the difference.

RM: Swansea City 0 vs 1 Tottenham

After a solid start to the league, Swansea’s form has dipped of late which saw them only secure one point in their last three matches. Tottenham on the other hand has won their last three league matches, and will look to continue with their climb to the European spots.

RESULT: Swansea City 2 vs 2 Tottenham
