EPL Head2Head with Nick Gordon

Run Ride Dive Home

We’re back after the international break despite the drama in Paris and with a heavy heart after hearing of the passing of Rugby legend Jona Lomu. So let’s take a quiet moment to reflect on the joy the big man brought us.

Nick Gordon, sports reporter for the Citizen, Gunners fan and all round good guy is with us for the latest edition of the EPL fantasy results prediction game, Head2Head. Let’s get started:

Watford          v          Manchester United

NG: 3 – 0 to Man United.

The Red Devils have copped plenty of flak during their campaign so far yet still find themselves fourth. They’ve also done alright in terms of finding the back of the net without conceding too many. Watford also haven’t really got going yet with four wins, four draws and four losses. Easy win for United.

MS: Watford 0 – 2 Manchester Utd

Even with Martial limping off injured in the game between France and England I think United have enough options and with the fans calling for attack from the stands when things are dull, the team lifts themselves for Louis.

RESULT : Watford 1 – 2 Manchester United

West Bromwich Albion          v          Arsenal

NG: 2-0 to Arsenal
The Gunners were lucky to rescue a draw before the international break and missed a vital opportunity to scale the summit of the table but they should bag three points this weekend to keep touch with league leaders Man City..

MS: WBA 0 – 2 Arsenal

The Arsenal are oozing class at the moment. Goals are easy to score for them and on current form they way too good for WBA.

RESULT: WBA 2 – 1 Arsenal

Swansea City  v          Bournemouth

NG: 1-1

This is a matchup that doesn’t inspire much confidence given that Swansea have won three and relegation contenders Bournemouth only twice. A draw.

MS: Swansea 0 – 1 Bournemouth

This is the upset match for me in this round. Swansea have lost their way this season. Lots of uninspiring performances and the poor results have followed, I expect Bournemouth’s high energy style to get the win.

RESULT: Swansea 2 – 2 Bournemouth

Southampton   v          Stoke City

NG: 1-0 to Stoke

Going for a bit of an upset here and if there’s a team that could oblige it’s Stoke, especially after they added to Chelsea’s woes with a 1-0 win last time out.

MS: Southampton 2 – 1 Stoke

I keep backing Southampton on last seasons performances and they keep letting me down. Come on Koeman rally the lads for me this time.

RESULT: Southampton 0 – 1 Stoke

Newcastle United       v          Leicester City

NG: 3-1 to Leicester City

I expect the Jamie Vardy show to continue in this game. Newcastle have been poor this season and laboured to a 1-0 win over Bournemouth in their last fixture before the break. Leicester are riding the wave

MS: Newcastle 1 – 1 Leicester

I’m hoping for all Newcastle fans that the coaches were able to work on the defensive shape during the international break. Leicester are great to watch at the moment but I’m expecting them to stumble somewhere. Points shared here.

RESULT: Newcastle 0 – 3 Leicester

Everton           v          Aston Villa

NG: 1-0 Everton

They’re bottom of the table and I don’t see them moving anytime soon, even if Aston Villa have a new manager. To their credit they held Manchester City to a goalless draw the last time they played and while Everton haven’t been great this season I expect them to claim three points.

MS: Everton 2 – 0 Villa

Villa looked better in their 2nd game under new manager, Rémi Garde, against City forcing a draw but away to Everton I expect the toffees to get all the points.

RESULT: Everton 4 – 0 Villa

Chelsea            v          Norwich City

NG: 2-0 Chelsea

It’s not often that you’d see Norwich sitting above the Blues on the table and while only a point seperates them it is the case at the moment as Chelsea continue to struggle. I expect them to be revitalised after the break and am going for them to bounce back.

MS: Chelsea 1 – 0 Norwich

It’s Norwich, even if there is a dressing room revolt, Chelsea have played attacking, even attractive football, at times. Possible solution is to get Costa to focus on scoring goals instead of picking fights but they should have enough to see off the Canaries.

RESULT: Chelsea 1 – 0 Norwich

Manchester City          v          Liverpool

NG: 2-1 Manchester City

Liverpool still haven’t hit their straps under Jurgen Klopp and need to bounce back after losing to Crystal Palace in their last game. I just don’t see it happening against the table toppers.

MS: Manchester 3 – 1 Liverpool

I expect Liverpool to get Klopped at the Etihad. On the other hand, he’s had some time to plan since the defeat by Palace. Still, I think City have too much depth and class for the Reds.

RESULT: City 1 – 4 Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur     v          West Ham United

NG: 1-1
This could be the game of the weekend. West Ham have been brilliant on the road this season while Tottenham have drawn six of their 12 games so far. I expect the two sides to share the spoils.

MS: Spurs 1 – 0 West Ham

It’s another London derby. Spurs have lost only once all season and West Ham have punched above their weight but with the long term injury to Payet I can’t see them getting any points at WHL.

RESULT: Spurs 4 – 1 West Ham

Crystal Palace v          Sunderland

NG: 3-0 Crystal Palace

Sunderland have leaked goals this season, 26 of them to be exact and have only scored half as many. I expect Palace to be too strong for them especially because they’ll be brimming with confidence after scalping Liverpool at the beginning of the month.

MS: Palace 2- 0 Sunderland

Great result at Liverpool for Palace and frankly, Sunderland are junk. The pace in the Palace attack is second to none and I predict trouble for Sunderland when they visit London. Nothing short of a big red bus will stop Palace scoring.
