Some top of the table action in our Superbru group last weekend as Tyron ‘Jabu’ stumbled a little to drop into 2nd. Yours truly snatched the win too so I’ve closed the gap a little in our little 3-way league table at the bottom of the page and hopefully can string a few more results together. Dirk also progressed last week moving up 2 places to 62nd while I managed to move back into the top 10 with a 2 move climb to 9th. First place looks a hundred miles away at this stage but only 8 points cover the top 10 so at this stage it’s a very open race to the title in May.
Premier League/First Division titles (all time)
Manchester City: 4
Manchester United: 20
Manchester is red.
Enough rambling, let’s get into our predictions for this weekend.
RESULT: West Ham 1 – 0 Chelsea
West Ham 1 – 2 Chelsea
West Ham almost got a point off City and Moyes is getting them more solid as a team, though Chelsea will be another difficult game for them. I just can’t see them taking a point off Chelsea, even at home.
West Ham 1 – 2 Chelsea
Chelsea have a tremendous record against West Ham and they are in a great run of form. It may be tough but they should win it
West Ham 1 – 2 Chelsea
The big matches just keep coming for West Ham. Can’t see them turning over Chelsea despite a great performance against City recently
MATCH: Burnley 1 – 0 Watford
Difficult one to call as both teams have been excellent. A draw feels the most likely.
Burnley are fantastic at home and in a battle of the two overperformers I pick them to shade it on home advantage
I actually think I’m disrespecting Watford with this prediction but Burnley are a hard team to beat and on recent form have better results
RESULT: Crystal Palace 2 – 2 Bournemouth
Both teams are struggling to score consistently but are looking better defensively. I think they’ll cancel each other out here.
Because backing Bournemouth has got me nothing but defeats lately
I like both of these teams but neither is great to watch at the moment. It just says draw to me.
RESULT: Huddersfield 2 – 0 Brighton
These two promoted sides have had excellent starts to their seasons, but they’ve not had the best few weeks. Both need a win but I think they’ll battle to a good entertaining draw.
Cant pick a winner. So I wont.
Four successive defeats for Huddersfield leading into this fixture and I can’t see how they will break that run. Brighton look sharper at the moment.
RESULT: Swansea 1 – 0 WBA
I like Pardew, always an entertaining manager. I think that alone will see West Brom raise their game for this one, and probably mean a change at the end of Swansea…
I think Swansea are destined for the drop. West Brom will improve under Pardew, but in fairness they couldn’t really do worse.
20th hosts 17th. Probably an even contest, possibly a defining match for both club’s season. Loser is in real trouble if they can’t beat those around them.
RESULT: Spurs 5 -1 Stoke
Stoke are looking like a Hughes side again, but Spurs just qualified comfortably in the Champions League, surely that will lift them to get a win here?
Stoke would love to take advantage of the current Spurs blip but realistically they are just not good enough.
Really difficult to identify what has changed at Spurs recently but they’ve completely fallen off the bus. They are 18 points behind City going into the weekend and we’ve only had 15 games so far. Perhaps a small revival here against a mid-table team?
RESULT: Newcastle 2 – 3 Leicester
I think I just believe in Rafa here. He’ll be able to think of something to at least get a point from this clash? Surely?
Stop backing the Toon my head says, but my heart can’t pick them for a defeat so let’s go with the middle ground and take a draw
Leicester are quite watchable at the moment with their title winning style back in fashion as they rip teams to pieces with their pace and trickery. Away win for me.
RESULT: Southampton 1 – 1 Arsenal
Charlie Austin is making a massive difference for the Saints but Arsenal need a win here after the loss against United and I think they’ll get it!
Arsenal played well, they lost, now they need to play alright and win. I think they will on the back of the Ozil, Ramsey and Lacazette form
Arsenal were superb last weekend and can count themselves unlucky not to get a point or more. Will they take the fight to the Saints the way they did with United? Surely another away win here.
RESULT: Liverpool 1 – 1 Everton
After the 7-0 midweek win it has to be a Liverpool win against Big Sam’s Everton. Though long term Big Sam and Everton do feel like a good fit.
Shame, poor Liverpool are going to play against 123 defenders, but im backing Salah and co to snatch the derby
So difficult to predict what will happen here. I’m torn between a draw and a run-away Liverpool win.
RESULT: Manchester United 1 – 2 Man City
City win for blue to Manchester again!
City are a far superior side to United, who if they play like they did against Arsenal will need De Gea to be in even more inspired form. City to snatch it in Fergie time
City are the form team, United are the home team. Pogba is out, Silva is doubtful. United wide defenders are questionable and City can’t defend at all. Will there be enough corners and free kicks for United to use their height advantage or will City strangle the game with possession in midfield? I think it will come down to formations and perhaps the referee. Hoping for a Utd win, predicting a draw.

This season we score things a little differently, we’ll award 3 points to the outright winner or 1 each for draws. The loser gets none!
