In 2012, only two years into our journey, we were afforded an opportunity to go to Durban and join up with Manchester United on the 2012 DHL tour of South Africa. The giants of English football, weakened by the absense of a number of stars playing for the United Kingdom team, travelled to South Africa to play against Durban side, Amazulu. We were there with SA Sports blogger, Tyron Jabu Barnard from allthingsjabu.
While not a classic clash like a match at Old Trafford versus Liverpool, the opportunity to watch a team I’ve supported since childhood was too good to miss and getting access to the Moses Mabhida pitch made for a once in a lifetime memory. Of course, if Getty needs a tog, I’d be happy to relocate to the UK and capture football every week at any ground.
