The CEO of the South African Hockey Association (SAHA), Marissa Langeni, has confirmed that it has elected three nominees to the positions of president, treasurer as well as an executive board member to the rules, technical and education portfolio.
The elections took place in early November 2016 at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Langeni stated that the SAHA board positions are split into two election cycles to ensure and promote continuity between each election respectively. In addition, Langeni specified that all three positions had nominees that were uncontested
As a result, Mike du Plessis was re-elected as president; Marq Roberts was re-elected as treasurer and Feico Mulder was newly appointed into the position of rules, technical and education.
Furthermore, Langeni confirmed that the rules, technical and education portfolio has been vacant since the 2014 AGM and having a dedicated executive board member to handle this portfolio will be a huge benefit for SAHA. The portfolio encompasses all matters relating to umpires, technical officials, umpire education, technical officials education and coaching education.
Marissa Langeni, CEO of SAHA said: “I look to the future with great excitement and I’m very confident that we can continue to grow and develop while still keeping our inspiration of the Hockey Revolution at the core of our focus.
“Together, with continued hard work and dedication from all, we can ensure that we progress as an organisation that makes a difference, by committing to grow hockey within South Africa.”
