What we loved about the Citroen C4 Cactus
The design is unique and attention grabbing, which in a world where things feel quite uniform is refreshing and fun! The drive itself is excellent, power where you need it – from a smaller 1,2 motor. These days you get so much out of these smaller motors. Really impressive! Get the Turbo though, just for the joy of driving!
The price at R259,900 is wonderful value, and a bargain really. A little more for the turbo, but still it is proper value for money. It has all the usual bells and whistles and the touch screen is easy to use. Space is good all round with more than enough boot space for most things. Dash is laid out neatly though quite sparse, which isn’t the necessarily a bad thing. Design and feel is still quite funky and fun.
Fuel consumption is fantastic. They say it can do 3,9l/100kms, and driving it we agree it probably can! Our running around saw it averaging around 5,8l/100kms. Brilliant for the stop start nature of Joburg traffic!
Then there’s the fact that you can make this car extremely personalised, you can make the airbumps different shades and then change the panels to your colour style! How cool is that? It’s definitely not conservative!
What You Might Not Love
That is it very much in its own category. It isn’t a hatch or an estate, but something between. It doesn’t have the space that you’d have in an estate, but has more than a simple hatch. You might not be funky enough to actually own a Cactus, it’s a car you can’t just park and leave. It’s a moving conversation piece. You don’t just drive a Cactus, you need to pull it off. Airbumps won’t be for everyone really, but that’s what makes this car so very French!
If you’re conservative then this car is definitely not for you. It’s far from simple, and far from boring.
