PUMA today announced its partnership with Born 2 Run Athletics Club, a newly launched national running club in South Africa. Focused on supporting only local athletes, Born 2 Run AC aims at encouraging every level of athlete to pursue their individual running goals. Through its sponsorship of Born 2 Run AC, PUMA will be making an active contribution to up-and-coming athletic development in South Africa – “taking runners from Good to Great”.
PUMA Marketing Director Brett Bellinger says, “PUMA is very pleased to be working with Born2Run. They are committed to running development and are one of the exciting up and coming running Clubs in the country. We hope that with PUMA’s involvement we can assist the Club in achieving its goals in running.”
Born 2 Run AC has been launched as a national running club with branches based in Durban, East London, Johannesburg and Cape Town. Each branch aims to offer its athletes access to training, motivational and dietary advice in partnership with local dieticians and biokinetic practices in the area. Regardless of a members’ level of experience, Born 2 Run AC aims to offer runners a holistic solution to their running goals, whether those be social or serious.
By virtue of the club’s sponsorship, athletes have access to top end racing kit and super trendy post-race and casual wear designed and manufactured by PUMA. Members of Born 2 Run AC benefit from a 20% retail discount on all PUMA merchandise; just the inspiration you need to hit the track or trail and to look good doing it! In addition to its top-of-the-range sports apparel, PUMA will be kitting out the clubs top 10 athletes who will compete in top national and international events.
“PUMA’s partnership with Born 2 Run reinforces PUMA’s commitment to the sport of running and the development of grass root athletics, which is at the core of what B2R stands for,” said Born 2 Run AC Board Member Xolani Hlatshwayo. “We are proud to be associated with such a prominent athletic brand”.
Apart from its social and elite teams, Born 2 Run AC has recently launched a grass-root youth development initiative in Soweto, Gauteng. The initiative, also supported by PUMA, aims to assist local youth to prepare for events such as regional and national cross-championships, as well as track and shorter road races.
