What brings a drifter, a kart racer and a former Wesbank V8 champion together on a Saturday morning?
Jason Webb, the 17 year old drifting protege, Roelf du Plessis, Wesbank V8 champ, and Naomi Schiff, up and coming karts racer, and a few other select guests all got to test drive the Legends Racing cars around a short circuit.
Kevin Hepburn’s Legend Racing hosted the drivers from different disciplines just outside Benoni on a short circuit track. Although their backgrounds in racing are quite varied the resulting facial expressions after driving the Legends cars were virtually identical, a resounding “yes” after the experience.
The Legend car is probably most easily described as the step between karts and cars if you were looking to pigeon-box them. The three quarter sized cars are deceptively fast despite having just a 1300cc engine. The secret lies in the fantastic power to weight ratio with the cars weighing in at a mere 501 kg.
A sequential gearbox allows rapid shifting through the gears. Added to the abundant power and low weight, a really nippy package!
