Jaguar Simola Hillclimb
Two lucky Jaguar owners will have an opportunity to win the one thing that money cannot buy: an entry to drive at the 2017 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb. The competition is now open at www.jaguar.co.za – and interested participants need to own a Jaguar* to be eligible to enter. Entries are open right now, and will close on 24 March 2017. Winners will be announced on Monday, 27 March 2017.
Entries for the 2017 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb opened up on 1 November 2016, when competitors were able to submit expressions of interest to enter the invitational event. A total of 144 driving slots are available, but the organisers received 175 applications in just three weeks from drivers in South Africa, Germany, the UK and the USA. Those who are chosen to participate are truly in the motorsport elite.
“Over the last three years the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb has grown to become South Africa’s premier motorsport event. It has won awards, spectator crowds have grown, and there is unprecedented interest from competitors,” said Lisa Mallett, Marketing Director of Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa. “With its invitational format, it’s impossible to simply buy an entry. With that in mind, we decided to create an exclusive opportunity for two lucky Jaguar owners to participate and show that they have racing in their blood.”
All Jaguar owners with a road-going Jaguar from 1986 or later are eligible to enter, for an opportunity to win this fantastic prize. Not only will winners be able to drive their cars at the 2017 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb, they will get a complete Jaguar premium experience.
This includes flights to Knysna, 5-star accommodation, and passes to the Jaguar VIP area for both the winner and their partner. To prepare them for the task of driving up the challenging Simola Hill road, drivers will receive training from Jaguar Experience instructors. Additionally, their vehicles will be transported to the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb where a team of Jaguar technicians will prepare their cars – including fitment of a full set of tyres, courtesy of Continental Tyres South Africa**.
The Jaguar Simola Hillclimb kicks off on Friday, 5 May, with Classic Car Friday. This sees 60 drivers participate in their historic road and race cars, competing for the Classic Conqueror trophy. On Saturday and Sunday, 6 – 7 May, the performance is turned up a few notches with the dramatic King of the Hill event. Up to 84 road-going sports cars, supercars and purpose-built race cars will compete on the 1.9km-long Simola Hill road for the King of the Hill trophy.
Spectator tickets for the 2017 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb start at R100 for a day pass and R220 for a pit pass. Tickets can be purchased on www.itickets.co.za.
