A dream team with a difference

I’ve done a little bit of research and put together my dream team of players based solely on the fact that they play in Puma football boots, the same boots I currently own, or have played in over the last couple years. My favourite formation is the 4-3-3 so that’s how I’ve picked the players for my Puma dream team.

There are a wealth of options available at goalkeeper so I’ve chosen two of my favourite players. There are few better than Gianluigi Buffon of Juventus and Italy. The legendary Italian shot-stopper plays in Puma’s evoPower 1.3 boots. It’s a really tough call but my backup keeper is the fantastic Petr Čech of Arsenal. Petr also chooses the evoPower 1.3 cleats.

At left back we have Nacho Monreal of Arsenal who plays in the evoSPEED SL II, a sensible choice for a wingback who needs speed to break up the line. In the middle of my defense, I have Italian master defender Giorgio Chiellini. Heading into the twilight of his career the Juventus player is still a quality player and is the starting centre back in my dream team line-up. Chiellini wears the Puma evoPower 1.3’s. His centre partner is Diego Godín of Atletico de Madrid, also in  evoPOWER 1.3  boots. On the bench as cover for these two is Newcastle United’s Chancel Mbemba in the evoPOWER 1.2. On the right hand side of defense, we have Stephan Lichtsteiner, one of Switzerland’s better football exports and another Juventus player. Lichtsteiner, like Monreal plays in the Puma evoSPEED SL II boots. My backup for the wingbacks is Arsenal’s Héctor Bellerín. The Spanish right back chooses the same boots as the swiss ace.

Into the midfield we go where there is no better attacking midfielder than Marco Reus. The BVB Dortmund player chooses evoSPEED SL II, a superlight boot for the fleet-footed player. Alongside the German ace I choose Chelsea’s assist magician, Cesc Fàbregas. The Spanish genius plays in the evoTouch boot just like my choice for defensive midfield, Marco Verratti of PSG and Italy. Offering cover and pretty much interchangeable are Arsenal’s creative Santi Cazorla (evoTouch) and Liverpool’s  Adam Lallana  (evoSPEED SL II). Just in case the opposition aren’t shivering in their boots, Yaya Touré (evoPOWER 1.3) is waiting to sub on and demolish defences with his loping stride and precise finishing.

evoPOWER 1.3

The goalscoring department is traditionally, although not exclusively, a thing for strikers and I have picked three great starters and a fantastic sub. Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann (evoSPEED SL II) is the name on everyone’s lips at the moment. He will be partnered by possibly the best striker in England, City’s Sergio Agüero (evoSPEED SL II) with Arsenal’s super-reliable Olivier Giroud (evoPower 1.3) adding height and danger in the air. Our sub can play the aerial game as well as the tricky ball stuff, Marko Arnautović  (evoSPEED SL II) of Stoke City makes up our Puma dream team.

Starting XI:

Buffon, Monreal, Chiellini, Godín, Lichtsteiner, Reus, Fàbregas, Verratti, Griezmann, Agüero, Giroud

Čech, Mbemba, Bellerín, Cazorla, Lallana, Touré, Arnautović
